I work at Champion Audi, and the car, the team, and stuff are an amazing bunch. The car doesn't smell of diesel, it's faster than piss, great lookin, and those bastards didn't take my suggestion of putting on those big mudflaps with the chrome, busty girly silhouette.
Pretty freakin' cool stuff. We just moved out the R8 from our showroom, and have the GTS champ RS6 there right now. Half the sonsabitches stepping into the showroom have no freakin' idea that the cars they're looking at or comparing with the Lexus spanks mama six ways to sundown. In fact, most of the latte sipping bastards at Audi have no clue. I blame NASCAR, ESPN, and the public school system (as well as Barbra Streisand and George Clooney, just because.)
So, anyway, diesel is the future. Well, maybe. If these assbags state legislators in the US would stop taxing the living shit out of diesel fuel, there'd be a chance. It costs less than gas to produce and is cleaner (esp the new stuff), and is more efficient. wtf!?
We'll find them in motorcycles soon enough! Ha! That would be supercool. But don't wait for Honda or BMW; it'll be a Wanderer or DKW. Audi, baby. (and don't give me any of that horseshit about JD Power & Associates quality rating that puts AUdi in like 98th place. They're f*cked. Per Consumer Reports, Audi is no. 4, and they actually buy the cars, test them, get customer feedback, and they, no read this several times, don't take million dollar consulting fees from auto companies, such as Honda, GM and others. JD Power, fry smores in hell, you lobbyridden, scaming bunch of whores!
(am I angry!? no, just another day in the life of me) kiss my ass. (smile)
996miami, is Audi selling cars in the US with the same diesel technology that powers the R10? During the Sebring broadcast, I thought I heard the Shell guy say the fuel wasn't yet being sold in the US?
It seems like a great deal - you get better mileage, lower emissions, and gobs of torque with these new diesel motors. But I just wonder about the low revs and the sound (or lack thereof) - it doesn't mesh real well with the concept of a sports car here in America.
I'm thinking about going to an ALMS race this year just to see and hear that Audi...
Let's see 'em put that thing on top of the podium running some used egg roll oil!
I wish there was more diesel options in the USA. I looked at the Jeep Liberty CRD this weekend at the Minneapolis auto show, but would like to see that motor being used in more than that one application.
Dave, if you really want a diesel we can cram one in the trooper!
Cars w/ diesels are O.K. An 8,000lbs truck that does 13.1 in the quarter is fun also! It will be more fun with twin turbo's, LP injection and some new injectors. Than we would have an 11.0 second bike hauler!
That diesel fuel's special, so it's not ready for prime time. We're awaiting word that the Audi diesel Q7 will arrive. Hope it does, as well as other turbo diesels, but the market is really soft for them right now. A t-d A3 would be great
You work at Champion? I going to remember this if i find myself over on that side of the coast. I want a VIP tour of the operation(dealership and all).
A couple years ago i met some of the ALMS audi crew at the St Pete Festival of Speed. What a great bunch of guys. Can't really say that about some of the women that were with them...be it wives or whatnot. Anyway, everyone that was with the audi crew was extremely personable, knowledgable about the car and program(s), and were suprisingly excited/passionate about thier team(s) and program(s). They had the Audi and Porsche contention out there this year but i couldn't stop to talk this time. The Cayman looked the tits out there on the concours this year. I've heard the stocker ain't got no balls though. Kind of like a castrated 996turbo in new skin.
Always thought it would be cool to work for a dealership owner that was passionate about racing, and didn't mind putting his money where his mouth is.
I have a F350 diesel that gets great mileage compared to my old gas powered Dodge, but it is still between 15 and 18 mpg. That was OK when diesel was 1.32 per gallon (back in 2001 when I bought the truck).
When diesel hit over $3 a gal last October, I went looking for a cheap car with good gas mileage. I bought a Miata (I know!) and I basically have been driving it for free. In the 9000 miles that I have put on it I have saved enough to pay the $112 monthly payment and my insurance with some $$ left over. I do have a 80 mile round trip commute everyday.
I think that Audi’s problem is that they are kinda plain cars unless you go with the high end models. We looked at BMW’s but did wind up buying a used 2004 A4 last December. I do love the car, but it has a full bodykit, exhaust and a chip. The bodykit make it look so much better then a std. A4 and I think it looks better then the S4.
As of yesterday, I'm back with The Collection - Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Maserati, Lotus, Aston Martin and Jaguar. Come by there sometime. Currently have an F430 pace car in showroom. Champion was a good ride! They're both first class operations, six or half dozen of the other.

Yes! (by the way, we have a great deal on a little, red 360 parked around back, now, just between you and me, that cherry's a deal and a half, owned by some old gripper that bought a one way ticket to the bone orchard last week and his wife only drives Jags...)
(def., 'gripper', : and old man sitting low in the driver's seat whose hands grip the steering wheel at 2 and 10 oclock positions, and all you see are his hands and the top of his head.)
I recently bought a Dodge Sprinter [re-badged Mercedes] w/ the 5 cyl. turbo diesel. I freakin' love this van. 23 mpg on the highway [@ 75-80 mph] and 20 around town.
Coming off a Ford E350 with a 351 windsor that got 10 around town and 13 on the highway...i'm happy as shit. Plus, it has 73" clear inside front to back. I'm 6' tall and can stroll around inside without hitting my head. I won't even tell you how nice it is when you are loading your bike and gear for the track....
