Default Got A New (to me) Truck

The Strange Rover had a watery death at Christmas time, vehicle has been written so I had to replace it with something.

I have left the English camp and gone to the dark side (the force was to great Luke ) and bought a Toyota Girlie bloody Prado.

It will have new shoes next week along with all the other 4x4 goodies for playing offroad.

Rangie R.I.P 8=(

That would be the Toyota Landcruiser over here. I think you will enjoy more time driving the Toyota as oppose to fixing the Landrover. The Toyota is solid as a rock and has 3 locking differentials - so rock climbing is not going to be a problem.

Cool snorkle on the rover. Swim much?

Baas, we where crossing a river, we hit a submerged rock which lifted the front out of the water, I hit both diff locks and tried to get off it, we broke a right rear axle (ARB 24 spline jobby)

We then tried to back off which started to work as the vehicle got turned around slightly in the current, we where then pushed sideways onto a large rock which had a wash in front of it, the truck semi floated then like the titanic she went down, dash and electric windows etc all fizzed, we had windscreen wipers and headlights only then.

The rock we rested on punted the left rear door in enough to see daylight around the edge and allowing the truck to fill up quickly, the engine was still running (snorkeled etc) and the water was up over the bonnet.

We got towed out by my bro, we removed the prop shaft and two axles (one broken).

We then drove back out in front wheel drive only and home early .

So that is how she died, 90% of electricals fizzed, engine sweetas etc.

Anyway, insurance assessed it and with all the electrical work they wrote it off, so time to get a replacement so I bought a puffy Prado (they are call Landcruiser Prados here)

Winter bike project on back burner now, got to set up the new truck for 4x4 again, 24 years I have been driving, this is my first ever vehicle claim.

2005 was a cruel year for vehicles for me with Monsta going to the sky and Strangie going to the funeral directors too so time to move on with 2006 as a better year.

Sweet looking ride Andi. It should be really reliable. Looks very similar to Rangie also. You may want to put some flotation devices in this one though. Oh yeah one question. Did it come with a free handbag or nail polish?

I notice the new one has a step so it should be easier to get into.

Caliduc runs for cover.

Cover will do you no good ....bastid, I know (roughly) where you live

Was disappointed in the lack of free make-up, I thought being a girlie truckess it mighta had some cool hair or nail products

It is hard work finding a vehicle that is fireproof. waterproof, bombproof, and generally Monstaman proof as my 2005 luck would have it.

I look forward to picking her up, rip all the girlie stuff off and turn it into blokes truck

Will there be any truck left?

All kidding aside, it should be a cool ride. Again, the reliability should be much better than the rangie. But you have to admit she did hold up well considering what you put her through.

How is the power compared to the rangie? (hp stats)

And what type of things do you have planned? Snorkel kit? Bigger tires? Brush guard? Lights?

Also, insurance will probably be a little less.

Nice looking truck Monstaman, does it have a solid front axle or IFS(inferior front suspension)? Bafflebrain, The prado is a little smaller than our landcruiser the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser is based on a shortended version of the prado and the Lexus gx470 is a prado. Monstaman you should have great luck with it I had an 84 FJ60, great truck, once we get the house purchased I will be getting another.

It would be cool to see pictures as you build it...

I sure hope you have better luck with your vehicles in 2006!

Thanks guys, I will be starting on her this weekend when I pick her up.

dieselryan, yes it does have the beam axle which is the one I want, this model was built between 93 and 95.

Mine is the 95 and is the last model prior to going to the rounded shape and independant front end.

It came with a factory rear diff lock and I will be fitting a lock-rite front locker assebly, these still alloy you to turn yet maintain for and qual drive to both wheels, quite clever really.

Photos to come, by the end of the weekend things will have changed quite a bit
