What's with all these drivers announcing their switch an entire year (or more) early?

Is Renault done with F1? Which driver will McLaren retain for '07? Will the other one go to Ferrari? Or Red Bull or Honda or Toyota? This is fun.

And what about McLaren running without a title sponsor next year?? That sounds expensive.

Id say chances are Mclaren will try and retain Kimi. The results speak for themselves. Montoya is still a bit on the wild side and makes many bad decisions like trying to pass Villeneuve on the outside on the first lap and getting punted from the race. Other then that nice flat spot which led to the wishbone failure for Kimi only reason he didnt get the drivers title this year was the car let him down a few times.

I also thought I read the Mclaren announced vodafone as their title sponser? Well at least for 07.

I know it seems crazy to announce trading teams a year early but I dont think it will effect how Alonso will drive. Lets face it, a racer is a racer and doesnt like to be passed. I remember that nice US grandprix this year where only bridgestone ran. One of the proposed solutions was to limit the speed of the michelin cars in the last corner. The announcers just laughed. Any racer that is getting passed and know they can go faster to prevent it will

Here's a good one... how about Penske returning to F1 in '08? Supposedly he met with Bernie and said that he'd be interested in fielding a team if the cost cutting measures proposed for '08 become reality. It kinda makes sense since the IRL is not looking so good, and he's probably too proud to return to Champ Car. Why not move his open wheel operation to F1?

I guess I could see that happening. IRL is just blah. Very boring and way too much coverage. So what if they have the indy500. I really liked the camp cars but it is not on a lot in my area. I think what really pulled me into F1 besides the typical 7am start my time is each team builds their own car. If that continues the F1 budget will never be low and even with someone with Penskes wallet it wont be easy to break into unless he buys a premade team kind of like what Redbull did.

IRL Started because racing was getting "Too Expensive". Well guess what even IRL is expensive.

Everyone wants to race for Ferrari. Rumor has it it will be Kimi and Rossi in 2007 for Team Red. Renault is now under the knife of the former Nissan CEO who doesn't like to spend money on foolish things like Racing, especially expensive F1. You don't see Nissan in racing do you?

I think everyone wants ferrari because of the history and who wouldnt want to drive that bright red car around? They have a lot of work to do this year. If their car is as dismal as last years car they might have problems getting Kimi to trade. No one likes to get passed by a customer car. That Mclaren was very impessive last year and once the reliability is there it wont be easy to beat. Personally I want to see what williams fields this year since they lost BMW as a sponser and engine supplier.

First im jealous. I want to get to that race.

Second which wing design? You talking about the split rear wing for 08? Ive seen drawings of it. Personally I dont really like the look. Its going to take some getting used to. Doesnt look like a F1 car. If youre talking about something different then no I havent seen it and toss up a link so I can

Yeah, I'm talking about the split wing. If it makes passing easier, I'm for it. I'm waiting to find out about the tickets. I know a person that buys a crap load of tickets for their close friends. Turns out a few of them might not be able to go to the race. So I have dibs. Doesn't Ferrari want Kimi when Schumi retires? Maybe this has something to do with McLaren scooping up Alonso. To be honest Kimi looked faster then Alonso all season. Kimi had all type of car failures in 05. The Renault was stupid fast at China thou.
