Default Hummer H3??

Going to sell my truck (2001 Dodge 3/4 ton Sport) and looking at the new Hummer H3 or a 2006 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 . Both of them look pretty nice. I am just worried on the towing capacity of the H3. I can't seem to find much info on the internet about them. Has anyone bought an H3 or know about the capabilities of them. Any advice will help.

Edmunds has some info:

Aren't you concerned about rising gas prices? Just wondering.

I can tell you that I saw a new H3 in an accident against a Toyota Tacoma a few days ago. The Toyota won by a long shot. Make sure you check the H3's safety record.

The H3 is nothing more than a Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon rebodied. Same motor, same trannies and same 4,000 max tow rating.

Hey wait until teh H4 comes out next year. Built off the Equinox. Even SMALLER than a H3.

Get the dodge. As RP said the H3 is just a colorado chassis/engine with a bunch of metal/plastic thrown on it. There is only one true hummer...the H1, the rest are just poser mobilies IMO of course. The H2 has an independant rear suspension, not sure about the H3. Independant is nice for the road, but shitty for fourwheeling, which is what the hummer is suppose to be about.

Probably will go with the Dodge. 4000 lb tow rating is not near enough. Boat alone weighs about 2000. Would look sweet though behind a Hummer

I beg to differ. IRS gives you added ground clearance without having to bolt on massive tires, and tends to keep more tire surface in contact with the ground. Do they put IRS on vehicles that have crappy off road capabilities? You bet. Cost more, more maintenance? Yup, they aren't cheap. They also aren't very good tow vehicles. Having trouble with half shafts? Then it's time to re-think your driving technique or set up. If your only goal is mud drags or truck pulls, then by all means have at it with a straight axle. And both the H2 and H3 have a solid rear axle.

I'll take mine with four wheel independant suspension, please. You couldn't give me an H2 or H3, and I don't really like the H1. Just make mine the original M998 HMMWV with a soft top, removable canvas seats, and a deep water fording kit, and I'll be happy.

Then you'd want to steer clear of a Ford F350 dually diesel thats been seen at a few drag strips. Something about 1100hp and 1500ft'lbs doing high 11's-low 12's. Wish I could remember where I seen that video. Wild as hell seeing a dually 1 ton smoke a camaro SS

That would be neat to see!!! Mine's not quite that fast, but it will keep up with the wife's 05 mustang GT.

Now for the strip, I have a prostreet S10 with a 454 that runs 10's. Street legal and fun to drive.
