Default F4 1000R 312 Race Special

Anyone see this in June's issue of CW? Page 31. Said to be 183 HP. 150 units to be made at around $25k.

RRW has a nice writeup about the 312, plus the 1000R model is included in the 6-bike liter shootout. The MV performs well, but opinions were somewhat polarizing.

For a $2000 increase over the R, the 312 seems like a good deal. I know if I was given $25k and had to spend only on a motorcycle, it would be the bike I would get, over a Tri-color 1098.

I'm willing to bet that the new MV 312 will smoke a 1098 even if it is slightly heavier. You just cant deny those HP numbers.

Buddy has an R and that thing is scary fast, can't imagine what that bike is like.

Not sure about the white though. Think I would have to stick to the traditional red/silver or the black

I'm not really sold on the looks... its a bit too angular.
Price is hefty also.

Id love to have one. The entire F4 lineup since 99 I think it was, with the 750cc motor is so much more attractive to me than the Ducatis...cept maybe a 998SPS....

Just made a deal on a used 2005 MV Agusta F41000S in silver/blue. Pick it up tuesday. Cant wait!!

The 1098 is very nice, however I already have a v-twin 1000, the RC, so I needed the in-line and the MV is ridiculous...

Very nice bikes. The fit and finish is superior and the sound...holy mother of all motorcycle sounds...in my ears, trumps them all. (of course, its up to your own tastes, and we know you cant account for anothers tastes...example, the gear driven cams on the RC51...AWESOME. The dry clutch of a Ducati...complete garbage to me....)

Good luck.

I will toss up some pics once I get the F41000S this tuesday!

so what are peoples impressions of the MV's I've never really talked to someone who owned one. how is the suspension out of the box? I love the black 312 and am looking to get another bike end of this year. I like the MV's more then the 1098s but do you get similar options with them ie; suspension, clutch, etc. if I get either of them its goin to be a keeper for a while so I want to make the right choice. I was also thinking mabye trying to find a RC30 choices choices choices

Well Ive put about 200 miles on the '05 F41000 and I can say its NASTY fast. Beautiful to look at and people want to ask millions of questions about it. I bought mine used, so I have no idea where the suspension is set at. I havnt adjusted it yet cause I have no owners manual, so dont know the settings yet, but so far I am not nearly as confident on the F41000 as I am on my RC51. Im sure this will come with adjusting and time in the saddle. So far so good, though...!!

Anybody here to give JWM2K3 standard suspension setting for the MV F4 312?

You can either call your dealer or go off of what the magazines say. Wish I could be more help to you. Congrats on the bike and good luck.

Last week on vacation we went to KC International in San Antonio, where they had 312's in all three color schemes. Not sure about the white, and I personally like the old simpler Red/Silver paint scheme better than the new revised graphics, but the black/dark grey scheme is evil-cool.

We are planning on doing some home upgrades in the next few months that will preclude me from considering another bike for the time being. Staring at the incredible Black 312 biposto, I had to question to my wife if we reeaaallly needed the pool I agreed to.

Seriously amongst a bunch of new and old Ducatis including the Hypermotard and 1098, the MV's were just in a different league to my eye. There is nothing from Japan that compares on looks alone.
