Default Tried to kill my F4

My first Adrenaline Freaks track day at Pacific Raceways and I go and try and kill my F4.

Lowsided then wedged myself under the airfence at turn eight after 130? or so up the hill.

Bike still runs, but won't go anywhere. Broke left bar, left rearset, broke all the tank mounts, dented the tank. Snapped both left and right rear cast frame plates, (which are pot metal aluminum!) destroyed the windscreen and front fairing. broke the dampner mount. and so on and on.

So begins the rebuilding process.

Good for you for taking it to the track. But, ouch. I hope your body doesn't hurt anywhere near as bad as your wallet is going to. I just didn't have the stones to take mine to the track... Everytime I thought about the cost and time involved in fixing it after an off, I just cringed. Thus the Gixxer... Anyways, glad to hear that you are healthy enough to post here!

I'm not afraid to ride the MV, but I dread the day I'm posting the same thing. I guess, such is life. I can't see NOT riding the bike at the track... Can you?

They are fixable. I thought they crashed well until I read that about the frame plate. That really sucks.

I have this damn Ducati which I'm not so afraid to crash, because it's now the "official" race bike (if I ever get it back together after it blew itself up).

Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Both frame plates broke! . I'll post pics as soon as I remember how.

I was amazed at how well the bike handled. I already knew it was more flickable than my 996, but what a night and day difference.

Top end too. Maybe it was the other riders the but 996-8 couldn't hang on the straights.

Now it's my official track bike just as soon as it's back together. Anyone have any luck w/ sharkskins for MVs?

Sorry to hear about your wreck, glad you are OK. Look on the bright side, now you have a good excuse to upgrade to the magnesium Oro frame castings.

So $4.34 plus that RC-51, what else? You wouldn't want to offend him...

PM me if you need frame plates and/or a swingarm! I've got the stock pieces off of my SPR that have NEVER been used. I also have a set of stock wheels. If you want the Mg parts from my bike I'd be happy to sell those too, they'll just cost more.

Glad to see that you're okay. I was there with my RC in group 2 that day and saw a lot of crashes; yours included. I think at one point there was a crash every 3 laps according to the organizer.

I wish Transport Canada would allow me to import the Agusta into Canada. Next to the 91-92 ZX7 I think it is one of the best example of motorcycle industrial design to date.

Keep us posted with the rebuilding process.

Wait 15 years or bring it over as a trackday bike. by the way, there are at least 4 "Cagiva's" running around town.

Nice way of putting it. There are 2 here in Calgary too. Without wanting to spill any beans, let me say 2 things, both of which are public:

- Somebody from Transport Canada reads this web site. You may want to be discrete in discussing taking MVs across the border.

- There was a public press release about a Canadian MV distributor based in Montreal a few months back. This would indicate to me that it is likely MV will make it onto the RIV list in the not too distant future. Ask me no questions, I will tell you no lies. But I think that the biggest thing that stands between me and an MV F4 1000R as a track bike in 2 years is my wife not the government.

How much do those frame plates cost? Think there would be a legit interest in some billet t6-6061 or 7075 Al. plates?

If you trackday or race a MV investing in R&G crash/frame protectors is probably a good idea.....They make uppers and lowers for the f4 and Brutale along with some other crash system pieces, bar ends fork protectors etc.
