No start

Can you Bump Start it?

Check lead from wiring harness to starter to see if it contacted header it may have burned.

How old is your battery? Fully Charged?

Ducati's are notorious for burning up connectors leading to all kinds of problems.

• All fuses are good.
• Removed Starter Wire and went direct to battery:
  • Engine turns but no start (I suspect no spark, since it always starts easily) .
• With Key Switched to ON Position:
  • Get fuel pump pressurization noises as expected with key to ON position.
  • Get Servo/Relay Noise from Instrument Cluster with key to ON position.
  • Get Gauge Pointers Sweeping the Dials with key to ON position.
• Tapped on Relays in hopes of dislodging a stuck connection, no change.

Everything appears to happen normally when key is switched to the ON Position, except NO Starter Motor action/noise when the Starter Button is Depressed.

More suggested troubleshooting welcome.

Recommended GEAR for Bump Starting?? (2nd or 3rd perhaps?)

 

Def 2nd as in 1st it'll just lock the tire. You'll still need an assistant to provide the motive power. Get him pushing fast and slam your ass down as you let the clutch out. As soon as it pops pull the clutch in to keep it running.

Kick stand interlock switch?

2nd gear runs in driveway yield skidding tires, not a single engine revolution...

Perhaps a tow......

 

Motor

If you put it in gear on a stand can you turn the motor with the rear tire?

If not I would be looking at the starter locked up.

Test for voltage going to the starter when you hit the start button.

Look for the fried wire etc from the alternator to the wiring harness and back to the starter.

 

Update

Turned ignition on and connected directly from battery to Starter Motor:

Starter motor cranks normally, but no indication of starting, as if no spark.

It would normally fire right up.

Next check will be solenoid and wiring.......perhaps overtemp switch....etc.

 

Success

Should have know..............broken wire in a wiring harness up near the flex point by the steering head. Same thing happened to a previous Monster several years ago.

Time for tune-up and goodies installation now.
