Default Anybody retarded ignition timing...?

..and would be willing to post a brief tutorial? I need to do this (actually, on a 97 900SS) in conjunction with installing high-compression pistons. Thanks - BrianK

The ignition pickups are located on a moveable plate under the left sidecover. The plate has graduated lines on it, each being ~2 degrees. Simply loosen the nuts on the plate, move to the desired setting, and tighten. The air gap should be .6-.8mm.

Soon I will start work on a programmable CDI for the carbed 2v's. Then none of this plate-moving stuff will have to be done, you can change timing from a laptop. It will have a shift light, shift kill, available TPS input, and adjustable rev limiter, all built in. It will probably be a couple months until it is done, however.

Thanks. Which way do you move the pickups to retard timing?

I just cut a couple mm's off of the front side of the timing "bump" on the flywheel. this retarded the full advance timing a couple of degrees but left the "idle" timing stock. Makes for better slow speed and idle.

Default Not to hijack....

Mr. Hord,

Not to hijack this thread too bad....BUT can this system be used for an RC51? I have a PCIII USB & I know Power Commander has their ignition module, BUT according to their website it's a "NO GO" for the RC. Thank you!

Josh

You may now all return to your regular scheduled DUCATI programing
