Default Cheap Nichols flywheel

FYI, someone's got one on ebay for short $$ - fits 748/916/ST2/ST4 - it's at $36 currently, with two days to go.

Just wish it'd fit my 900SS!

It's not me selling it, nor do I know the seller. But I haunt ebay trying to get one of these for myself, so I wanted to let others know about it. Wasn't sure which forum to use, so.... anyway, sorry if it annoyed, that wasn't my intention.

Thanks for the tip. I'm watching it.

EDIT - ah, it's a one-phase model. Tough. Good deal, so far, but I expect it'll go for a lot more.

Nicholes is some nice stuff, but Ducati performance also makes a light weight flywheel for the 750/900ss bikes, sure it's not as light as the nicholes but not by much and price isn't bad either around 150 bucks if I remember right. I have a nicholes on my 750SS and a Ducati performance one on my 900SS, can't say I notice a difference between the two.

I have my 750 motor in pieces right now trying to decide if I should rebuild or part it out, so there may be a nicholes for sale in the near future

Also check out this auction, if you decide to get it I can help with the overseas shipping http://cgi.ebay.de/Schwungrad-Ducati...QQcmdZViewItem

'Cause it don't fit my 900SS. If it did, I'd be lying in the weeds, waiting to bid it in when there's about 30 seconds left on the auction....

Resurrecting this old thread to let you guys know I FINALLY installed the Nichols flywheel I bought from JDL. Wow - really nice mod! No problems starting or idling. I did let it warm up a bit before pulling away, and was probably more careful than usual about throttle control, but I really see NO downside to this mod, and it certainly does rev faster.

Of course, in usual BrianK fashion, I managed to tear the alternator cover gasket getting it off. Tried to fill the gap with Yamabond. Bad move. I think the gasket holds the cover away enough that there's a gap where there's no gasket, too big for the Yamabond to fill. Bet there would have been no problem if I'd just been smart and thrown the gasket away entirely and just used Yamabond. Live and learn. New gasket coming from Chris Kelley, I'll reinstall the cover and all will be well.

Except of course for my vertical cylinder base gasket leak....!

It never ends! BrianK
