Default gauge cluster compatibility questions

During my last crash, all three rubber shock mounts snapped, and the cluster took a pretty good beating. I finally got the bike back together and test fired it yesterday. After idling for a good period, the temp. gauge won't get past 1/2 way. I know where it usually sits, so I think it is screwed. I have a spare superbike cluster, that I can pull the temp gauge out of. The connections and wiring order are identical, will it work on a supersport?

The bike is a 750ssie with a 1.5 ecu, the donor cluster is off a superbike 1.6 ecu. Does the temp gauge sensor run through the ecu?

Also, if neccesary in the future, will the superbike tach read correctly when hooked up to the supersport ecu? Can you re-calibrate a tach?[I'm sort of wondering what those three brass screws on the back are for....]

Thanks in advance
