Question exhaust backfiring!

I replaced my cans with CF slip ons, with a Hot Jet coated stock header, I hooked the whole thing up. Now it sounds great!!

The problem is when I let off gas, the cans backfire! I know I used the exsisting header gaskets (a no no), but could not find any locally. I have a small exhaust leak on back cyclinder, but will re seat the header and gaskets to see if that is the cause. Does anyone else know why it is doing this? Do I need to correct the jets with new slip ons?? It has stage 1 kit already on it.??

Any advise would be appreciated...

Try having someone put their hands over the endcaps of the cans while you quickly check the exhaust for leaks. If it wasn't backfiring before it shouldn't now if it was jetted properly. I have re-used stock exhaust gaskets with no issue.

Fix the leak before you get too carried away worrying about other things. Leaks can and do cause backfires on decel.

Talking RE; backfiring..

Replaced staock aluminum cans for no name Carbon Fiber Slip ons.. Got them from Wounded Duc. Did not see a name on them..

I will re check for leaks around cylinders...

The gaskets are all rusted, so worried that it could cause the leak by not sealing..

Thanks for the advise..

+1

And with aftermarket slipons, you may need to rejet the carbs/ or adjust the FI, especially if you have an open/vented aribox mod as well.
