Default 750ss running problems

I've got a 750ss that ran fine until a slight altercation with a tire wall at VIR. The "altercation" created a small leak in the gas tank around the rear hinge (so it ended my day after 4 laps), which I welded up completely and no longer leaks. The bike sat in a garage in NC for about 2 weeks after replumbing the vent hoses and repairing the tank. Fast forward to last weekend at Barber, I couldn't make it more than 3/4 of the way around the track before the bike died like it was running out of gas (I had to push the bike 3 times and finally get a ride on the "crash truck" before caling it a day and bumming a ride on a friends Monster). I've checked the vent tubes and the flow fine, the fuel lines are clear, and the carbs (FCR's) aren't leaking. The battery was a little weak (had to bumpstart it) but it would turn on the fuel pump and light up the guages. The bike would run absolutely beautifuly for the first 1.5 miles, and then it would sputter and die, I could wait for a minute and then bumpstart it again and make it to the pits. the only thing that I can think of is that the battery was too weak to operate the fuel pump AND the ignition, and I was losing fuel pressure there.

BTW it's a 92' 750SS (784).

See if it'll run for longer with the Petrol cap open, that would eliminate the vent tubing!

It'll run for a good while through the pits and around the access road with the cap closed. I rode it for about 10 minutes before hitting the track, and then it idled for another 2-3 while on the grid. When I was givin it hell it would die though.

You said the battery wont even turn it over? Is this before or after you have been running it? You can always try hitting the tank where the pump is trick when it shuts off. And I'm sure you took the tank off before welding on it. Have you checked your plugs for fouling?

Some of those tubes where the lines connect to the tank are brazed on I think. It may be that one closed partway off by brass flow during the welding? Just a thought.
