Question 05 800SS Tired Tachometer

After 60k of almost daily riding the tachometer on my 800SS is very reluctant to show any movement..Is the pickup for the tach a magnetic sensor and if so where is it located?...Does anybody have the same problem??...I suppose that the fix is to replace the sensor or perhaps the air gap needs to be reset??...HELP!!

Tachs are either mechanically driven or wired into the ignition circuit. There is no "pick up".

Check connections but my guess is that yours is tired.

Hope that helps.
