Default Could bar raisers make it possible to use a 750s daily?

Somewhat embarrassed to ask this, but I recently test rode a 750s and of course finally learnt what you all already knew, ie: the riding position is not suited to a daily commute.

Has anybody put bar risers on one and found it made enough difference to be able to ride to work and back daily?

Monsters are just out of my reach $ wize, but prefer the looks of the SS/S anyway.

Default Risers

A tall tankbag with a cheap beachball in it will solve all your problems but one: it's too easy to fall asleep!

Probably can't find them now, but I put CycleCat bars on mine. Probably the best investment I've made on the bike. Turned it into a 5 hour bike, use to be a 30 minute bike. For me height was not what made it better. I actually have the bars mounted lower, under the triple clamp, but they are longer than stock, and I have them angled back and down slightly. I'd say they are about an inch lower than stock, but my reach is much less due to the extra length of the bars. Another added benefit, that extra length makes for some good leverage of the bike at the track!

These will fit and mount under your top triple clamp:
SMP Billet Clip-on 3.5" Risers: 50mm. You will still be limited on how much you can raise the clip-ons by the fairing - but they are much more comfortable and a better angle than the original bars.

Thanks for the information, I've been offered a '94 for the right money but heck that's a bit old for a daily transport solution. I'm going to upgrade to something boring and keep a look out for a Monster (maybe needing some TLC, etc.).

I bought a used set of heli-bars from Jeff H. of this site, and they positively TRANSFORMED my bike (97 900SS). Used to be good for a half hour, 45 minutes TOPS before I needed to head to the chiropracters. I can now do full days on the bike without serious back pain (the sit bones still get me, but if I'd ever remember to actually put the airhawk on before I leave the garage I could probably lick that too).

Literally, the best money I've ever thrown at the bike - in part because Jeff gave me a great deal (thanks again Jeff!) but they'd be worth full freight.

^ do you think they would do the same for the '99-up supersports?

At this point I'm probably getting an SV1000S but what I really want is a '99-up 900SS. It's just that anyplace interesting to ride here is an hour or three of straight flat highway away.

I don't really know much about the post-98 bikes but I don't see why not. As long as they fit your bike and give you an inch or so rise and an inch or so of pullback, I think you'll find they make a world of difference.

I really enjoyed the Heli bars when I had them on my '98 900CR but am absolutely thrilled with my Cycle Cats. The total adjust ability makes all the difference for me and I can tweak the cockpit for touring or riding in twisties. I don't think the newer Supersports have quite as much room to raise the bars due to the change in fairing design. I would still think it a very good investment though if you love riding either the old or new SS.

I sold my old Heli bars to Brian K because i felt sorry for him. His Duc is yellow and therefore a little slower. I thought he might as well be comfortable while he waits for the speed to build up. OH NO YOU DIDN"T!

Regards,

Jeff

Hi,

I made my own risers; not brilliant engineering but I found a supplier here in the UK that made a clamp with riser extension. I also bought a thick wall full lenght handle-bar and cut it down to fit.

Makes for a comfy ride but I did have to drop the forks quite a bit...

Cheers - Frank

Cycle Cat is no longer in production but Oncycles has a few sets for the 900ss left. Great price too! I got the last silver set but they have gold and titanium colors left. Go here and scroll down:
