Hmm. That red frame on the '06 800 is sexy.
Bill, why do you say that the SS's are "infinitely better" bikes than the monsters? Wouldn't you say that the more modern suspension linkage on the Monsters is better? Sure you get the Ohlins on a few SS models, but then you also get the torturous riding position. Most other major components (forks, brakes, etc) are pretty much the same. I have a 750SS now and, being an old man (37!) am seriously considering an S2R1000 instead of 1000 SS. Mistake?
It might depend on pricing though. Things are getting better in Canada, since the S2R1000 will list for only $13,995 (as compared to $16,495 for both the SS1000 and M1000S last year). So, now DNA screws us Canucks on exchange by only 20%, which is better than the 40% raping we used to get. Still way over fair exchange, but supposedly they are worried about annoying customers who recently bought bikes at the much higher, super-inflated price. Not sure yet if they will drop the price on the SS to match.
Makes you wonder though what they will do with all those leftover M1000S's. I see a few non-currents out there now, and they are still asking over $13,000 for '04s. Good luck getting that when there is an S2R sitting beside it for less than $1000 more.
