The fuel pump fuse blew on my 900sp during two track days. The bike ran fine at a moderate pace (and no problems on the street) but the fuse blew when I started pushing it harder. Thinking that vibrations were causing a problem with the wiring I took out the fuel pump to troubleshoot but found no problems. What I did find after putting it back together was fuel coming out at the connection between the pump & filter. Replaced the line and clamps but it's still 'leaking' so now I'm thinking that's not the problem. Pretty clever, eh? There is fuel coming out of a metal tube in the upper part of the tank so I'm thinking it could be spray from that but it sure looks like it's coming from the fuel line. I haven't had any fuel related problems prior to this which makes me think this all may be normal.
One other thing...I can't seem to get the gas cap assy back on. I put grease around the o-ring per Haynes manual but it won't sit flush with the tank. there's about an 1/8" gap. Took out all the set screws and tried persuading it with a rubber mallet but I don't want to damage the tank.
Sure would appreciate some suggestions
