Default Re: Serial Programing for Ducati ECU's (moddedtunnel)

looks similar to what FIM can do but note that the newer bikes with the stand-alone ECU (as opposed to the older computers with replacable chips) are NOT reflashable. from what i know, there are 4 options for the new computer'd bikes:

cheapest/simplest to most expensive/advanced:

1 - have your dealer tweek the stock ecu's settings with the mathesis diagnostic computer. this is not terribly precise but more than fine for most riders, especially if you're not trying to squeeze every last pony out of the bike.

2 - tfi injection control unit from techlusion. relatively simple to use. you've got 3 knobs to mess around with. low, mid and WOT throttle. more flexibility than tweeking the stock ECU but you can only ADD fuel. if your stock map has any rich spots, this will do nothing for you.

3 - powercommander. you can build a map exactly to the needs of your bike. like the tfi above, it piggybacks the stock ecu. lots of maps available online or you can have one custom built for YOUR bike on a dyno. this costs about $250-300 depending on your local shop's rates and is on top of the cost of the unit itself. note however that the powercommander only can alter the fuel map.

4 - U59 replacement ecu from UltiMap (formerly FIM). not a piggyback. this actually replaces your ecu. you can mess with the revlimit, ignition timing, fuel map... pretty much anything a tuner would want. only real drawback that i can think of is that it's expensive and not possible to mess around with for the home-tuner. you are committed to having a shop with the proper software take care of what you need.
