Default SS1000 Swingarm Dented From Stock Muffler

I just purchased a pair of FBF high ovals from my dealer. When I removed the right side stock can, I noticed a dent and evidence of the stock can hitting the swingarm repeatedly. The right side can has always been very loose as a result of out of tolerance condition causing a loose fit. I did not notice that it was causing damage to the swingarm. I think while riding and hitting bumps, the can hits the swingarm. Do you think my Dealer and Ducati should replace my swingarm? I don't like the cosmetic damage and I am afraid the aluminum may have work hardened in that spot and eventualy start cracking. I also think the O.D. of the header is the problem because the FBF can fits looser than the left side, just like the stock cans.

first thing i'd do is loosen the bolts that secure your headerpipes to the cylinder heads. also slacken the pipe clamp that mates the rear header to the cross-over in the forward header. give the whole system a couple light taps with a rubber mallet to loosen it up. then install your high-mounts, align everthing so it looks right and clearances are ok, THEN tighten down all the bolts/nuts.
good luck with the swingarm. i doubt you'll get any lovin, but there's no harm in pointing it out to your dealer to see if there's something they can do.

put your original mufflers back on and go to a dealer. we'd certainly try to get warranty for a customer in this instance. they can only say no.

What Brad said. It all depends on the dealer. After I bought my bike I had issues with the header being too close to the fairing and melting it (it was almost touching). Dealer replaced the lower fairing and the header with a nod from Ducati. Took a couple of trips and some wringing of the local Duc rep by the dealer but if it is a good volume dealer, they should have a little bit of pull with Ducati for replacement.
