Default wet to dry, clutch conversion question

I am toying with the idea of converting my 750ss to dry clutch. The only issue I can't seem to resolve is regarding the mainshaft. On dry clutch bikes, the end of the mainshaft has both a caged needle bearing, and an oil seal, where the clutch pushrod runs through it. The 750 mainshaft does not have the correct counterbore to fit either of these items [neither the stock parts, nor any I can find.] I would imagine the bearing is there to support the end of the pushrod, but as it dosen't rotate [or shouldn't] I would not expect it to develop any "whip". Will the two O-rings on the pushrod seal well enough to keep me from pissing the contents of the crankcase out the end of the mainshaft? Thanks

just a note I don't believe the second option (900/sbk 6sp into the 750/620) in my post will work. Referring to BB moto one notebook...

Ducati Capacities Dangerous page you have there Brad, makes me want to buy some engine parts from different models to play with.

But when I split the 620 cases, probably this winter or later, I still try a 748 tranny to see what the issues are. Of course if you are splitting the cases and have a 748 tranny around, let us know.

Jager, thanks for the feedback, and link, [Brad has got an incredible wealth of info. He continuously amazes me.] Tell me, did you use a standard .5" OD [I measure .505, or 12.8mm inside the shaft]x .312 ID seal in the end of the shaft? .312 is a little tight for the pushrod [8mm=.314] but it could work if it sees a little oil to keep it lubed. As far as the internal caged bearing, I'm thinking that as long as you watch/lubricate the preasure plate bearing, the pushrod should never move, so why need a internal support bearing? What's your view?

It's not too hard. I've got a Dry-clutched Monster 750 that I converted last year.

Contact me for info if you need any. I used different parts than off of the 900. I'll be glad to help you out with this...
