Default Need input on upgrades - levers, sprocket, and chain

I'm thinking about upgrading my levers, chain and sprocket on my 03 800ss.

The stock gearing is just terrible.

Any advice or photos would be helpful.

Thanks.

What's wrong with the stock levers?

As for gearing, I went up two teeth on the back for my '01 900SS. I would think you would want to do at least that with an 800. You might sacrafice some top end, but who really needs to got 120+ mph anyway? Acceleration is more better than top end, IMO. Changing the sprocket is easy enough. The problem is that you will most likely need a new chain.

The first thing I would do is have the suspension setup for you. No other mod. will give you more confidence than a well setup suspension. Again, just my .

I went up three on my 800 and to me it was perfect. It will still do 135. It fixes every other problem you are probably complaining about too. Yes, with three teeth, you will need a new chain. Get the DID from Chris at ca-cycleworks. Great price and great chain. Up three will raise your rpm's about 600 at 70mph in 6th gear. No big deal.

Great advice!! There is little better than riding a suspension that was built to YOU. My '99 SS was set up for me and it is like night and day.
