Default 748 race tail on 750SS

Anyone done this that can share some ideas. I'm looking at putting the 748 race tail on my 750ss and just wonder how difficult it's going to be. I'm will be using 749 hot boddies uper and lower and think the 748 tail would look good. Thanks for any help

I have a racing buddy who put a superbike tail on his 1000SS. He cut his entire rear subframe off, and fabricated a new one out of aluminum. I'm sure it was a fair bit of work, but he shaved off a lot of weight. He split for Barber this morning [CCS/Formula USA weekend]. If you want, I could take some pics when he gets back.
When I put my sharkskinz SS tail on my 750ss racebike, I left the subframe in place [cutting mine off will be this winters project] and bent all my support work out of 1/8" x 1" aluminum flat stock. It has held up very well, even through a fairly violent crash.

Yeah I kinda want to leave the subframe alone so it's superstock legal. I really dont want to spend the $275 to get the sharkskinz tail and 748 race tails are a dime a dozen on ebay etc.

I hear you. then I would imagine the aluminum bar stock supports would be the next best thing. it just requires some some patince, and careful measuring/bending [after you get the tail temporarily fitted where you like it] I have a superbike racetail sitting in my shop [it's not for sale] and I'll plop it on my 750 tonight and see if there are any obvious problems/fitting issues.
this is a crummy picture, but you can see the simple supports I made for my tail. They look cheesy, but supported my weight [175 lbs] with no problems. And, it was easy to mount 1/4 turn fasteners to the flat stock.
couldn't do the copy/paste thing with just the photo link so...it's the third one down on this thread....

Like this one..........

Actually mine is aftermarket and made to fit the older SS bikes....... either way it looks much better than stock and sheds some weight as well

Would be great if you could check for fitting issues. I plan on using the stock seat and just cutting it down to work. I already plan on making brackets I just want to know if it's possible with a little work or do I have to chop the subframe to bits to make it work. I the tail I'm looking at for the 748 uses the stock seat, it's not the superbike tail but I'm willing to use either one.

CCS - changing the body work would make it illegal for Super Stock.

There is no "Super Stock" class in CCS racing. If you mean "SuperSport" class...
6.1.2 C: "Any fairing may be used provided it is made of plastic, fiberglass or carbon fiber."
This basic rule applies to all CCS classes [under different headings; ie: Superbike 6.3.1 D]
F-USA Sportbike, is another matter [but I don't believe it applies here]

Not trying to be difficult. This info. is just in case wera269 chooses to race a CCS round [CCS honors wera licences, and I see a few racers that show up regularly] the more , the better
