Scott,

That Guzzi paint looks awesome. What does it look like in the sun?

Looking at the bike in the first post, the inside of the lower fairing is yellow, suggesting that it came from a yellow donor...

Having owned both, I'd say the worst SS is infinitely better than the best Monster, especially if you'll be doing any track-days.

I just picked up a brand new 2002 750SS (with full factory warranty) for $6500, and I'm delighted with it. While it's not as fast as my '99 900SS, it's much more rewarding to ride fast because more involvement is required. For serious go-to-jail riding, you have to keep the revs up, which means more shifting.

If you can swing it financially, the 800SS is a lot more bike for not much more money. It has a six speed and a 5.5 inch rear rim (which permits the use of premium tires). Keep in mind that there are some unsold 2003s available at SERIOUS discount.

Hope this helps.

Own a '99 750SS Full fairing, bought it 4 years ago used for $3500. Bike now has 42,000 miles on it , original clutch. Bike runs great, but the fuel injection is glitchy, no that what you do to it ( throttle syc, tps adjust etc). great gas mileage mid 50's plus it runs well on regular. New 800s have higher compression ratio so don't know if regular will work. Love the bike except that it is a mobile crucifex. The riding postion sucks for anything over an hour or just track day envornment. Make sure you can tolerate the riding positon before you buy.

My 2000 750SS "carburates" properly. It originally had that funny lean condition around 4000, but a little TPS wiggling fixed that. It now has open box and cored pipes, and with that configuration ran fine even before I did the PCIII.

Maybe the FI on the 99 was "glitchy", but like I said, I can't find any fault at all with the FI on my bike. Wonder what the problem is with yours? I can't help believing that it could be fixed.

I own/Race a '99 750ss, the only thing done to her is a K+N filter,Cored out Pipes, and the Evoluzion ignition enhancer... I love it, the competion hates it, and for some strange reason, the new 800ds, and even the 1000ds can't blow past me in the straights, they just kind of crawl away, and even then, once we get into the turns I'm gone... Maybe I just don't know enough to slow down that much for the turns. This is my rookie season, and most everyone thinks she is a 900ss. Once I tell them she is ONLY a 750ss, they always seem to cringe. So get that 750ss and have a blast...

My friend is looking into the history of both the 900S and the 750SS at his dealership. I'll also ask him to look for "old" 800SS's. We'll see what he can find.

Hi,

I own a 2002 900 sport. Engine is great, around 88HP and 89 NM rear wheel. Modifications include DP open exhaust, DP CPU and some headwork/porting. I would now go for a 2002 900 SS. It has the good looking alu swingarm, Ohlins rear shock, adjustable showa frontfork and very reliable 900 engine. I expect is will be much less expensive than the newer 1000.

Greetings from Holland,

Default 750SS on the way!

Looks like I'll be getting the 750SS later this week. My friend gave me a good deal on the bike and on my trade-in. Turns out the previous owner didn't like the half-fairing that the bike used to have, so he did a full-fairing mod, hence the yellow paint inside and the odd decals. I'll get it repainted eventually. The bike sounds good but I might get some slip-ons to get the full sound. Any suggestions for slip-ons that give a quiet yet rich sound? Don't want to wake the neighbors.
