Default Lightweight timing Pulleys?

Wonding what info anyone can give me on this mod?

I understand that it's less rotating mass which will allow the motor to rev quicker.....or at least that's the theory behind it.

I'm wondering how much of a difference they make. What the stock ones weigh and on average what the lightweight ones weigh?

Any differences between the Bucci ones and the STM ones?

I see here that the Bucci ones come as pulleys and then rollers seperate, but that STM offers a pulley kit then sells the rollers seperate....

anyone have any info on this? I'd appreciate it!

Well, I don't have the light weight pulleys. I can't imagine they would make any real difference at all. They are pretty small items. The down side would be that you would have to do a lot of work to replace them. You would have to make sure your valve timing is correct, and you need a special tool to get the things off and then to install them. Your 2001 Sport has adjustable timing pulleys from the factory. That was a new feature in 2001. I think it was beneficial on older bikes to replace the factory pulleys with those aftermarket ones because they were easier to set the timing on. The older (prior to 2001) pulleys, needed an offset key to set valve timing. If you want to have less rotating mass for your engine, I would think a lightweight flywheel would give you more of a benefit for a lot less money and aggravation.

I'm not on the 01 Sport any more - have a 02 900SS right now

I'm looking at doing the flywheel as well.....just wondering about what the benefit is, not if it's 'worth' it or not.....hehehe

and no, I'm not trying to be snotty.....just not sure how else to put that

forget the lightweight cam pulleys, you will never be able to tell any difference. Go for the flywheel.

Same engine.

This is a job that would involve a dial indicator of some type, a few special (or home made) tools, a lot of patience, and a big bottle of aspirin!

yes, same engine, just stating that I'm not on that bike anymore.....

mkay - I gather that it's a big job.....but again, nothing good every comes easy...

I'll put my time and money into other areas, but I won't completely eliminate this from my list of things to consider....

I look at this the same way I look at cars....every little bit helps....and after doing the other mods this one might be worth more.....
