Default Cut off rear grab bar?

I do not like the grab bar on the tail. I know I can cut it off and grind it down to make it smooth if it is solid. Has anyone tried this or has it ever been done? If yes and you have a picture then please post

If you still wanna ride 2-up:

AND AFTER...

But the solo tail is much cleaner:

What year bike? I have the DP solo tail which includes what is pretty much an unpainted, sawed-off grab handle piece. Where the grab handle would normally rise there are two ugly holes suggesting the grab handle is hollow. So, on an SSie, if you cut it you should fill it since otherwise it looks like hell.

wow edwyun thatsnice, how did you smooth it out? Bondo?

Yeah I have a 2001 750. I was hoping the bar wasn't hollow. I dont know if Im gonna experiment with it now or not. I really want to do this and then the rear cover(which I cannot find). It would turn my tail into a very nice piece of motorcycle.

I'll take a pic of what mine looks like so you will have an idea of what you are getting into.

Default Here's a picture of mine..sans grab bar.

The grab bar was cut off easily with a saw. I then used files to work the alum. down flush. The bar is not hollow.

Yup. It wasn't so bad because I had someone else do it and paint it

Right click on the red X's and copy the photo address to your Internat browser address bar ... and hit enter.

You will then see the photo. Do this to both photos and when you return to this thread (via the back button) amazingly both photos will now appear.

Yeah I don't know why ... and neither does Bill Gates probably
