Default Flimsy Mirrors

I have an '04 1000SS and I have a problem with the right side mirror staying in place. It is not the arm that is attached to the fairing, that is very stable. It is the mirror that is attached to the arm. It does not stay in place. Anyone have any ideas of a fix for this?

That sounds like a warranty item. Are you talking about the "ball socket" where you would adjust the mirror? I so, then I don't think there is anyway to fix that. I'd give the dealer call. That being said, the way I "fixed" my mirrors was to get rid of them and go with bar-ends. They work much better (as you can actually see behind you) and I like the look better than stock.

I had this same problem on the 2002 900 that I just bought....when I got to looking at it I found that the little locking humps that would hold it in position at the joint were all worn down.....so I swapped the mirrors off of my 2001 750 Sport.....which I am about to sell...lol

have you checked this area to see if that's the problem? did you buy the bike new? if so take it back and get them to warranty it?

Yeah, the "ball socket". That thing is so limp. I will give the boys over at Section8 a call. Gotta talk to them anyway.
