Default Speedo cable broke at 75mph, not fun !!!

The speedo cable outer sleeve ( on my 2000 900ss ) broke and the whole inside "snake" got swallowed by the left front disk at 75mph. I though I was going to loose my front wheel, but once I stopped I managed to pull it all out and don`t see any damage. The outer part broke at the lower section where it joins the metal sleeve and the nut. Luckily it did not pull the sleeve strong enough to rip the speedo down. Guys, do yourself a favor and take that cable out and inspect it. My bike has 22k.

Holy crap!!!!

Not clear what caused this - the outer sleeve was rubbing on something and wore through?
