how about this, I did do a search for '944 kit' and it only came back with 5 posts as follows:

http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...36287 (944 kit on ebay)

http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...34163
(talking about jets - I would be FI - so no help here)

http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...29050
(944 kit? - a few links to one place no other real info other than it's worth doing if you are in there)

http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...26948
(your thread about tuning the 944 kit - other than that no info on the kit its self really)

http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...25779
(and again, another one of your threads about how the kit is awesome, but no real information)

so in short....I'm still at square one, well maybe one and a half for now....I can look at BCMs web sites....

I figured that some people on here might be able to give a little info since there isn't realy any avaliable from what I could tell form my quick search.

=]

ahh yes, and this thread:

http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...35427

which goes all over the place but doesn't seem to really talk about the mod, just other things...and again, on a carbed motor.....

There may be some info at Brad's site that will help with the perrformance question.

thank you very much!

I'm going to assume then that it's the exact same between the carbed and FI motors? I read quite a bit about he difference in cooling (oil/air v. air only), and the difference in the wall thickness as a result....other than that....no differences other than tuning?

I think the FI head is a little more efficient; so, peak numbers of the FI motor may be a little higher. I think Brad addresses it somewhere on the site. The bottom line is that Brad's info should give you an idea of the % of increase across the RPM range. Peck around on his sight as there is some great technical information that is backed up with dyno charts. One thing I've noticed is that some of the mods we (Ducatisti) make as "gospel" don't seem to generate substantial "quantifiable" gains.

hmmmm... I was told that the ie heads have smaller valves than previous carbed models, and that one of the best ways to gain some power is to go with bigger valves. Maybe the head design itself is more efficient though, I don't know.

mkay - so after reading that guys page here:

http://www.moto-one.com.au/per....html

he seems to think that they aren't all that good of a mod to do from a reliability stand point.....but then again he also says that he feels that it was a substantial improvement in power

I have a 944 kit from BCM with 11.5:1 pistons. Runs like a top and is a fuelie motor with the same heads and valves as the late carbies, with the exception that I have short manifolds, and herein lies the difference. I also had BCM do some head work and am pleased with the results. If I were to do it all over again I would do it again. The motor is reliable, powerful where I want it to be and was cheap enough to do (I did the labor). Bruce will tell you stories about 944 motors going long, and there is no reason they shouldn't.
