Default race stand

just purchased a 2005 800SS....

What are you guys using for a race stand? Are you using a race stand? This is my first bike without a center stand. Seems like the race stand would be pretty convienent for waxing, washing, changing oil, oiling chain, etc.

I have been looking at the http://www.handyindustries.com stand package. front and rear for $99. Seems like a pretty fair price. Is this the best for the money? when would you use the front stand?

thanks for the help.

That's a good price but I'm not sure I'd go for these stands. There's no bracing at the bends to support the weight of the bike. Maybe the tubes are strong enough...maybe not, they don't give any info on the materials/construction. Bodywork is $$$. I have PitBulls

I have a Lochhart-Phillips and they are ok (came with the bike), but I'd buy a Pitbull instead.

I have a pitbull and love it. Very strong and stable. I have not seen others in person but bike does not move when on the stand. Tubing is huge and we're not really talking a lot of dough. What are they, 130-140? I agree with the prior post that it doesn't really compare when you consider what will break if the bike tips.

I have the Handy Industries front and rear stands for my 01' 900SS and couldn't be happier with them. Not a thread of regret for purchasing them.

Front stand to be used for removing the wheel to change tires, changing brakes, cleaning rims without rolling the bike, and any other reason. I use the back stand more, but am glad I got the front, as I use it more than I thought I would.

IMHO the Handy stands are the best for the $. In three years I have never had an issue of the bike falling, tilting, becoming unstable, or anything of that nature.

I bought a lockhart phillips swing arm stand for my 800 ss and although its not as rigid as a woodcraft or pit bull it works fine and with the team privateer discount cost around $60.

I'm using a LP rear stand as well. And have never had any problems with it. Even when my neighbor's in-bread monkey kids are f'in around by/on my bike. Never a concern with it's stability.

Next, I need to spring for Handy's Front Headstock stand for 100$$ I have some forks to pull!!

I have the MAX rear stand, very stable and pretty hefty. No complaints:

I have the handy stands and also Pitbull front and rear stands. The handy rear stand works great, I actually like it a little better than the Pitbull because it takes lower effort to get the bike on the stand. It is not even close to the quality of the Pitbull however. The handy front stand works but is not as easy to use the Pitbull front stand. Overall, for the $$ there a good bargain.
