Default popping sound coming from tank?

Guy's I need help here got my bike from the dealer I just had it serviced. But the problem is still there. It still misfiring when the temp gets hot and I hear some popping sound coming from the tank. It hesitates and pops during acceleration. The mechanic said when they tested my bike it is in a very lean condition so they adjusted the ecu to correct it. Can the lean condition of my bike affect the new plugs? the mechanic adviced me to change the plugs again because they used the new plugs during the testing of my bike and being so lean it might have damaged the new plugs again. Is this true? Does anybody encounter this problem I need help, I'm so frustrated with my bike! Maybe I should have gotten a jap bike!

take it back to the "mechanic" that worked on it and explain that it's not fixed. plain and simple. if you brought it there with a problem, they worked on it, you get it home and you can replicate the problem still then i think it goes back. don't be rude/abusive. just explain that you are still having the same problem. give them the chance to make it right. my

The popping is most likely coming from your airbox not the tank. On an 01 SS, I don't know what the guy did to adjust your ECU. As far as I know, you would have to re-flash the firmware to get any changes in mapping or add something like a power Commander. Maybe you can "trim" it a little with a Mathis (sp) tester. Not sure. You could have more than one problem... Maybe the bike is running lean, but that fact is not necessarily connected to the misfire problem. If the bike runs fine until it comes up tp full temp, I wouldn't think the sudden misfire is directly connected to the lean condition. It could be something else entirely and you're being led away from that problem by the existing lean condition thinking that it's the cause of all your troubles. Probably should troubleshoot one thing at a time. For the misfiring at temp (assuming it does run good until it's hot), I would think about the ignition coils and even plug wires. There is also that trigger on the flywheel side, but I am not sure if that would display a heat related problem. Electronic components can be effected by heat, especially big transformers like ignition coils. At high temps, the insulation can break down enough to develop an internal short. When cooled off, the condition can lessen, or even disappear. For the lean condition, I don't think you've mentioned if your bike is modded at all. If it's all stock and running lean enough to cause a problem, maybe your throttle position sensor if miss-adjusted, or even bad. Anyway, just some thoughts. It's pretty hard to "diagnose" something over the Internet!!!! Maybe you should take it to someone else for a second opinion!
