I sent everything to them a while ago and they got back to me right away with a question about how to build the mounting boss for the chainguard, and I haven't heard from them since despite a few e-mails. I will try to catch up with them and hopefully I will soon since I now don't have a hugger.

I did order some heel guards in twill and they came out far better than I expected. I am expecting the hugger and cam belt covers to be the same.

Thanks for the update. I might be interested in a set of heel guards as well... The stock ones make my FBF rearsets look like a$$!

Default Update 3/30/05

I spoke with the Carbon Guys yesterday and I guess we are only a week or so away from having the first run of these made. The hugger will look very much like the one I fabbed and will have a matching chain guard. I'll keep everyone posted as the situation progresses.

Do you mean a one piece unit like http://www.dexdirect.co.uk/aca....html that?

I don't think so. I sent 2 pieces in and from what I could tell from the pic they sent of the mock-up fender, they planned on having a fender, and a chainguard, not all one piece.

Here is the latest news:

"We just finished smoothing out the stock piece yesterday, and began making the mold today. The mold should be cured tomorrow and ready to have carbon laid up in it late tomorrow or Saturday...the remaining steps are easy and that we'll have the first one ready by late Monday."

I'll keep 'yall posted!!

I have been on these guys to give me an ETA and it keeps getting pushed off. Kinds pisses me off to be honest since its always next Monday, next Monday and finally the riding weather has arrived in New England and here I am without a hugger, chain guard or cam covers. BUT I am expecting something to arrive at my door any day now. They seemed optimistic that they would be done, er...Monday even if they had to OCC it (work all weekend until it was done). Well, today is Tuesday and nothing. Hopefully something will arrive this week. I will post pics as soon as I have some pics to post.

what if i run with no hugger at all? i know there will be some additional scrubbing of chain lube, and i will probably have to get the finance's toothbrush out to clean the rear shock if i get caught in the rain, but looks pretty good (i think).

You might have a problem with your shock seals getting wearing much quicker than normal if you don't have something back there keeping stuff off the shock. I've got my license plate tucked right between the shock and rear tire, for example. But as soon as the carbon stuff is ready from Valence I'll have a hugger there too.

I've been running no hugger for a while and really haven't noticed that much more dirt on the back of the motor and shock than before. The only problem I have with the shock is squeaking, but that was there before I took off the hugger. That reminds me, I'll have to post about that...later

Default Finally an ETA!!

Here is the latest word:

"Your hugger is looking hot. It's going to get sprayed one more time
today, and shipped tomorrow (4/26/05)."

Great news! I will post pics when they arrive.

sounds good.. I would like to see how it looks!!

I have to admit, I'm a little leary about sending money their way.. this little project took nearly 5 months to complete.. Even with them building something from scratch.. I would think a little faster turnaround is in order..

Believe me, I have been nagging them for the past month and their reply has always been "next Monday". I did ask about the turn around for orders and they said within a couple of weeks since the work-up has already been done. I guess they do a lot of Ferrari stuff and that has distracted them. They did say they would ship the fender and chain guard on the 26th so hopefully it will arrive soon.
