Default BCM Ducati Computer Flashing???

I read something about being able to send your factory computer to BCM and have it reflashed for mods like pipes and airbox. Is this different from the dealer making some mixture adjustments or what ever it is they do? Can this be done on my 2004 800SS?? Thanks for the help.

The flashload mod is for bikes with the 1.5 ecu, like the fuel injected 750/900SS lineup. Your bike has the newer 5.9 ecu which is not reprogrammable. If you are just installing slipon exhaust, your stock ecu can be "tweaked" to accomodate it just fine. If you go high compression/porting/cams etc...then you'd need to either purchase a DP "kit" that includes a matched ecu OR purchase an FIM U59 mappable unit and have it programmed to fit your mods by an FIM service shop. There are many shops around the US that have the FIM mapping capabilities.

As far as Ive been able to discerne, only BCM, Manley and Doug Lofgren have the 5.9 software. Ive asked every shop in the greater LA and San Diego area to no avail. The say they have the software but when you ask about the 5.9 their eyes glass over and they say "Oh we cant do that one, why not get a PCIII ?"

That was more my thought Brad. Ive a feeling most dealers are afraid of the FIM stuff, which is a shame. Ive got an FIM chip in my 851 and an FIM 5.9 replacment ECU in my Monster. Both work great, altough I need to get the Monster one reflashed with a map for an 800 (Used to be a 620)

When I called Scott he said he didnt do the 5.9 replacement ECU. Things may have changed but I think Ill still have mine done in Minnesota by Doug Lofgren, since Ill be there to race this spring.
