Default superbike fork conversion triple clamp question.

Are the superbike triple clamps usable on an older ss? I have a complete front end and am interested in putting it on my 95ss.
Thanks.

Sorry to say it is not usable, the ignition switch mounts differently and the steering tube is not the same.

I just finished doing the same upgrade on my 95 SS and documented the process. Click on the link to my website and on the download page you will find a PDF and HTML version.

Good luck with yours !!

Cheers

There seem to be two ways to do this. One is to have BCM modify your stock triple clamp and make shims for the lower clamp. The other is to get a kit from Cyclecat. When I was doing mine, the cost turned out to be pretty much a wash. I went with the Cyclecat to avoid the hassle of shiping the stuff to BCM. The kit is excellent and I would do the same again.

Actually the bottom 916 style triple can be made to work on SS. You have to make a special plug and then bore the lower triple for the stock SS offset. Then put your steer tube from your SS in the modified lower. After all that you won't have steering stops. It can be done I have done it a number of times and if you value the hollow 916 lower triple enough it might be worth doing.

does anybody know if the front wheel from a 900ss the same as a 748/996/998 sbk? Will the 900ss front wheel/rotors bolt straight on to the SBK forks?

Late model ones w/ the 25mm axle should be interchangeable. Most all Ducs have the same brake offset, except the 749/999, and the 'R' model bikes. Speedo drive setup should be the same for the bikes w/ it driven off the front wheel, dunno about the later Supersports (2003+?) that run it off the rear wheel.
