DID 520ERV2 is a popular quality replacement chain.

IMHo, the ERV2 is overkill for an SS. I believe the less costly VM520 to be more appropriate. Of course, if you want the great look of gold on gold...

I've been running the ERV2 for a while and have had no issues with it. I'll be replacing it this spring as I've put about 15000 miles on it already. I'd be interested in any input regarding what mileage others have put on their chains before replacing them.

Best regards,

Jeff

Chris, what would you recommend for a 944SSie? Same chain despite more torque?

Yup. I have the VM520 on my M966 with 100 hp, too. On paper, the VM520 and ERV2 are pretty close. When you quiz their engineers, they say that the ERV2 is a race chain and not really intended for street use. Basically, the ERV2 is an "all out" chain. In my opinion, the VM is just fine. It's a little heavier than the ERV2, which also equates to slightly more longevity. Well cared for, 15,000 miles isn't a problem on them.

we fit vm520 and vm525 to everything. you can get them with the gold outer plates too for a little more show.

Oops, I was mistaken regarding what chain I've been running. My records show I went with the VM520. Looks like I'll be sticking with that when I replace it.

Regards,

Jeff
