okay, please don't slam me but.........
I can tell you guys have been round, and round with this topic. I see alot of custom undertails around, but no manufactured ones. So without further ado would someone be interested in making a slip on undertail for me. I'm a pretty new duc rider been riding yams for a few years, but I just ordered an 02' 900ss and am pretty excited.
Thanks for letting me post.
Thanks for being patient with my ignorance.
and thanks in advance for not flaming me.

Re: okay, please don't slam me but......... (abn375)
You looking for an 'undertail kit' in the jap-bike sense (i.e. complete plastic/carbon/fiberglass fairing undertail w/ plate relocator, or just something to ditch the stock rear fender and/or relocate the license plate?
Evoluzione.net makes a kit to relocate the plate, basically keeps it in the stock location and mounts the signals too... if you want the plate mounted further forward under the tail section thats a custom job. I just made mine from sheet aluminum.
I put an LED taillight kit from ken's custom lights on my bike too and got rid of the stock turn signals entirely. I've still got an Evoluzione bracket laying around (extra) but its been slightly modified (signal holes reamed out to fit some mini turn signals) and I used the little plate light and a couple other parts when I made my forward plate mount. I can post pics or email them to ya if you want of either setup, drop me an IM and let me know.

Re: (abn375)
Ah yeah, that... I think there was a company in England that made them for a while, not sure if they're still around or anything though or how much they cost. Hindle makes the next closest thing, they're highmounts are pretty nice looking. Malicious Braham (one of the guys here) has them on his bike, run a search on the site for that. He wrote up a bunch of stuff about installing them.
And welcome to the site, and Ducati's btw!

Contrats and welcome to the board....
Thanks for letting me post.
We can be a benevolent group around here.
I've learned loads from these guys around here and you'll come across some great vendors as well... ( CA-cycleworks, Cycle-Cat, Section8 just to name a few )
Enjoy !

thanks, guys I really appreciate the help, and the welcome. I haven't even got my bike yet, and I can't sleep it doesn't deliver till the 20th. I have a hindle half on my r6, and it's annoying I can't imagine what it would sound like on an l-twin. thus far it sounds like it's a great bike.

If you would bother to wait it out, I know a shop here in SoCal that does great welding for cars. He'll probably do the same for bikes. Assuming you have an appointment for a couple hours and an exhaust that fits under the seat (and you have to truck your bike down to SoCal from NorCal).
As soon as time and money permits, my CF Termignonis will go under the seat as well. Just as soon as I find out how to route the piping for one of them... I was surprised that they both barely fit under the seat.

Re: (JonHsiung)
If you were going to try something like that, I'd imagine a set of 916/996/998 cans would work nicely in an underseat application on an SS. Don't know about clearance for the rear wheel travel, but once you cut off the sbk exhaust pipe going into the cans you could fab something else up easy enough...

Great input guys. Y'all are much friendlier than some of the other boards. In response to BradBlack, I believe they are saying Hindle makes a high mount, that looks really cool. But it seems that no-one makes an undertail exhaust or "tucked", so they have to be custom made. Heres another rookie question for y'all though. On a standard mount for this bike what is the clearance like?

Are you talking about cornering clearance of the pipes? If so, there's plenty. I ran stock cans at Laguna Seca, due to the noise restrictions, and I seemed to scrape everything BUT the pipes (kickstand, lower fairings). I don't have any pics with knee down at full lean, but I'm sure someone on this board does. You should see full-lean without any scraping of pipes.
I went with the high pipes on mine for a couple of reasons, none of which had anything to do with clearance. I liked the way they made the back end look without covering up the rear wheel, and when I upgraded to the pipes no one had low pipes in stock. They seemed to be on backorder everywhere, yet lots of places had overstock on the Remus high mounts. That, and I was tired of everyone and their grandmother asking me for a ride (no joke, a girlfriend's grandmother asked me for a ride). So deleting the footpegs made it easy to tell people no.
That being said, if you've read the post on high mounts you'll see pics of my bike with the footpeg adapters for the high pipes. My current GF loves to ride, and is actually a very good passenger so I don't mind riding with her.
Don't know if any of this helped, sorry to ramble but I can't stop procrastinating...
