Default Sharkskinz questions

I finally removed the stock bodywork off my 1000ss today. I'll be replacing it with Sharkskinz stuff, but I have a question for anyone that's used them. The body work has black plastic pieces inside to divert air on to the motor.

Does the sharkskinz bodywork have anything similar? Should I keep them? Are they even needed on a race bike?

It also has what appears to be insulation (man, it's heavy). I assume I can toss that.

Thanks.

Lose the insulation... its just extra weight, apparently there for sound dampening purposes.

There was a guy that had his SS in at Ducati Seattle a while back that had Sharkskinz on, he'd riveted the air deflectors and front air ducts to the bodywork. Worked but was a bit industrial looking for my taste. It was a mostly track bike though so appearance wasn't as big of a concern apparently.

uh... you didn't happen to have a full-faired bike, did you? And would you be interested in selling your old fairings if so?

I do have a full faired bike, but I've got someone lined up to buy them already. If it falls through though, I'll let you know.

I've still got the tail pieces & seat unclaimed if you want/need those.
