Paul, Any luck with the battery box. I'm pretty much all moved in and I hope to get the bike sorted out this weekend. Hope to atleast get the clutch and brakes on, the battery box made and the bike wired up. Need to get my crappy air compressor working first though.
oh man, i have actually made some very good progress the past three days. i even rode it around the block a few times last night.
on tuesday a friend named tommy harris, who builds custom headers for funny-cars, outlaws, bracket racers etc., fitted and finished the headers from some leftover 1-7/8" (they look really good, almost like fancy motoGP bits)
then another old friend of mine and i, finished up the battery box last night. it looks really good too, and it's a shame you can't see it when the tank is on.
i'll take some pics ASAP as i've been doing all this while out-of-town and i left my camera back at home.
Yeah that is what I need to be doing. Too much time moving and being busy with work again. Plus I just bought an 01 Aprilia Mille R for a street bike and it should be arriving next week. So I'll probably be out riding it instead of working on the ducati.
OK guys now I'm jonesing for an update! These projects sound a look sweet! I'm going to research the AFM rulebook to see it this works in their 650Twins class. Methinks it will fly!
I've been contemplating getting back into racing and this type of project would be jsut the ticket!
sorry this took so long jager, i've been having too much fun riding it and forgot until the last poster ressurected it
this pic wasn't cropped, so the file is pretty big, but you can see what i did. the lower brace has tabs welded onto the frame (you can see way down on the bottom right side of the battery) so it's removable, and the coils are mounted on hacked off stock tabs on the frontside:
here's a pic of the bike as she sits right now:
it's still dirty and in progress, i'm thinking a fresh coat of semi-gloss gold on the frame and wheels, plus some white number plates on the seat hump and headlight cowl will finish it off nicely.
thanks man! i had the full SBK fairings on, and well... it looks like everyone else's SBK!! i rellay love the cafe racer look, and finally found a suitable headlight and went for it.
Paul,
Its actually sitting in storage at the moment as I just don't have the room in the garage to work on her at the moment. Life has been a little crazy lately as well. Really need to finish her up and get her on the track.
