Default Let's start another thread on Alex!!!

OK Alex...you have my (and a few others) attention again...

Are you willing to tell about your 900GPdue?
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/...E.htm

The question's already out about the exhaust....

How about the bodywork AND the custom headlights/mounts?????
Since my high-side I've been thinking about remodeling...

Yea I parted that bike out last year for the most part. The fairing was from a German Company DSM kind of rough but strong fiberglass. The frame was custom built CrMo mostly by BCD. I made the tail section it is self suporting carbon Kevlar.

I stripped the bike back to the motor and built it all new last winter. Titanium frame again the main half was built by BCD I did the other half. The fairing is from QB carbon from England. Same tail as before. Engine makes very near 100hp with MBP heads and lightened internals. Bike weighs 300lbs wet no gas.

The DSM bodywork is actually made as replacement bodywork for the current model SS bikes so it would fit your bike easier and better then it fit on my yellow bike. The QB bodywork is made for the SBK which would be much harder to fit to a SS then my custom frame as the frame angle is different then a SS.

How long have you had the 966 2V kit in there? Any issues with heat/longevity given the thinner cylinder liners?

There are no cylinder liners in a air cooled two valve Ducati motor. There aren't any cylinder liners in any Ducati motor actually. The cylinder bore is treated some times called plating but I don't think that is accurate in this instance. The cylinders are bored out and sent to Millennium Technologies for treating or coating. They are just like original cylinders. There is plenty of meat in the cylinder to do that. The place that gets thin is the cylinder skirt that hangs down into the cases. I didn't bore my cases so 966 would be the limit if you bore the cases you need to start with heavier cylinder and you can go out to 984cc.

Do you have links / contact info for DSM and QB?
Thanks.

After googling "DSM ducati bodywork", I came up with:

http://www.dsm-ducati.de/

It's only in German, but if you click around, it looks like the right bodywork.

A little more googling.....

http://www.worldofqbcarbon.com/

This one's in English.

Can you comment on the quality and price of each? I need bodywork for a SS race bike. How do these compare to sharkskinz in terms of flexibility, crashability, and fit and finish? Thanks.

Eric

The DSM stuff was pretty rough thick fiberglass at the time the price wasn't bad but the dollar has gone down a lot since then. The QB stuff was all carbon pretty decent quality but very expensive not made to fit your bike. For track bike sharkskinz is still the way to go.

racersden.com makes kits for all ducatis I think, molded in the proper color if you want. I have some for my 95 sp, some blemishes and imperfections, but for racing they would be perfect I think. Got a complete set (solo seat) in red minus the rear hugger for about 900 usd

Regarding Racersden, I'm a little dissapointed.

I've contacted them about 4 times regarding buying a set of fairings from them, and a sticker kit. And each time, I've yet to yeild a single response. Not even a "We're busy doing this or that right now" or a "Get to you in a few", or even a "Piss off, we dont want your business."

Just flat out, ignoring me. And personally, with all the great service I get from Ca-Cycleworks, BCM Ducati, Wounded Duc, and others, I'm a little pissed at them.

I ordered a set of fairings from Sharkskinz, and I guess Im going to have to order a set of decals from tapeworks. You just dont treat customers like that, especially when your trying to sell something.

I like to consider myself the best kind of customer. The loyal kind. If you treat me right, I dont care if whosy-whatsit has a better price, I'll stick with you. Just because you put me first. But when you dont, I dont care if your giving away parts, I'll still order from someone who treats me right.

Kind of had the same experience with them, but after I was able to get through, they were generally good at answering my questions. I was a little disappointed with the workmanship though. Ever try powersportspro (http://www.powersportspro.com/partsfish/login.asp), I remember them having the decals available.

Why?

It wouldn't fit anything you have in any case. The truth is it is a full custom exhaust system I even made the mufflers myself.
