Carbon Fiber rear hugger interest???
JPuuck is donating his rear fender in order to make Carbon Fiber 900ss (late model) rear fenders. I am trying to gauge interest in order to move the project forward, so I would appreciate it if those interested would please respond to the thread. The price would be around $200.00, and we need 10+ people to move the project up on the priority list.
The fender will look similar to this:

Smashing!!! I'm in...just have to sneak it by the wife. Can it be made just a wee bit shorter than stock?

Dan-
I just put a post on Club Desmo about this too, in the general posting area. So hopefully we'll have enough interest drummed up for this here pretty quick.
I'll have the fender in the mail tomorrow too...

I would want one... Are you going to make them EXACTLY like the original?? I know that I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing one made that was a little less "Buick like"!!!

if for the 92-98 SS bikes, i'd be interested - plus, a front fender to match the quality and weave would be nice!

Re: Carbon Fiber rear hugger interest??? (CaliDuc)
Not a bad idea CaliDuc. Maybe something with a "point" similar to the taper on the rear part of the seat, or the top of the fuel tank where it says Supersport?? That seems to be the theme with the current SS bikes. Might look slick. I don't know what it would take to do something like that. It could be something that would be MUCH more expensive than a copy of the original.

Re: Carbon Fiber rear hugger interest??? (Kennedy)
I would like one as long as it is the OEM style or maybe a slightly abbreviated version. Not so sure I want to put my name on one that looks too much different from stock, like the one in that pic. Either way, I prefer the twill flavor.
Is a chain guard in the works too? Now THAT would be a sweet combination.

Might be a better idea. It would suck to have BFP make something different and have it look too weird to buy. I would like one that shows more of the rear tire though, sort of like what is coming out on newer bikes. The 1000SS has a hugger that is smaller than the one we have. It looks pretty good too.

Re: Carbon Fiber rear hugger interest??? (redduck)
I'd be in for either stock or slightly abbreviated (ala 1000DS) as well. I wouldn't want to get too elaborate and either drive the price up or not know what it looks like.

That sounds like a good idea. I haven't seen it up close, but from what squinty shots are available at ducati.com, it looks pretty sweet.
Chainguard...don't forget the chainguard!! It would suck to have carbon sprocket cover, front and rear fenders, and a black plastic chain guard.

Re: (hoythuntin)
For what is worth Ferracci list the same fender for 91-98 ss and 99-2003 ss. But I would like one also but would like to see what a shorter one looks like on the bike. A friend of mine has a 1000ds but I have not seen it in person yet.

i wouldn't trust what's on someone's (FBF's) website but the swingarms for the 92-98SP's and the post-98SS's look the same. dunno about the mounting points though.

Re: (edwyun)
It looks like there is sufficient interest to go forward with these rear fenders. Jesse is sending his out today, and we will get started as soon as we receive it. I will talk with Clay about making them into different shapes than OEM, and maybe he'll make 2 versions.

Re: (redduck)
Whoohoo! Can't wait to see the results.
Dan asked via email earlier what I thought of the stock shape vs. modified shapes... figured I'd put in my here for everybody too. I don't mind the stock shape, but a slightly modified shape (undercut sides or slightly shortened/smaller) would be find by me. Personally I don't like the extremely short versions but that's of course my opinion...
So now that we've gotten some fenders on the way, everybody needs to reiterate the importance of replacing that nice little black plastic chainguard also. (Which I put in the box with the stock fender as well, subtle hint...).

I can take a subtle hint (though it's usually in the form of a raised eyebrow from my wife)...
