Yeah, don't do the hugger without the chain guard. That would be like doing half a job.

What ever happened to that multi-spark thing you guys (BFP) were working on?

Any possibility of making a CF tank pad for the newer SSie...? perhaps even a slimmer hump? i'll provide the hump if necessary!

"Any possibility of making a CF tank pad for the newer SSie...?"

Yuck!

Is this even possible since the stock pad is multi-dimensional? I would rather have a chain guard.

pictures are more helpful Paul... throw a picture into photoshop and label what you're talking about. (I'm not as familiar with the 900's)

Thx

Benfer, see the yellow half-faired bike at the top right of this page? The pad in question is the black bump at the back of the tank. It wraps around the back of the tank and also protrudes out. It is made from neoprene and is glue-taped to the back of the tank.

yup, that's it! but the yellow bike is on the left of my page....
i'm trying to think of some alternative to the ugly grey color that it currently is... i think CF would be sweet.... i've seen pictures, but don't know where they came from!

I think you could just replace it with a black one from a Duc dealer... thats probably $$ though since I bet its not a commonly stocked part. I think there's a couple guys on here who've dyed or painted theirs in black, if I remember correctly it was Kappa and Redduck? (help out here guys...).
And I dunno bout replacing that part with something solid, that padding has come in handy a couple times in my experience .

Yup.. Painted it black to match the new seat. There are a few products available. I used a spray vinyl dye (worked like regular spray paint). I picked it up at a Checker Auto parts. Looks great, and after two or three weeks of daily riding, it has not rubbed off or scratched or anything. A new pad from Ducati is around $50.00. The paint and the double sided 3M tape you will need to reinstall it was around $10.00...

If you do it, you really need to remove the pad. I was actually going to do it in place, but Kappa recommended removing it. It is the best way. I was able to paint the back as well, and it looks more finished because of tit.

the vinyl paint idea sounds good... i removed the part when I got my tank chromed, so a complete spray should be easy! thanks!!

Boys: The tank pad out of carbon (to replace the stock squishy one) is NOT going to happen. At least I'm not going to take the time to develop it. The rear fender and chain guard (Nick) IS going to happen. Actually we've been making those silly chain guards (some had 3 slots...some 4) for the 900's for years but only sold a handfull....so I'm relying on youz guyz to make this worth while. The local (So Cal) Duc dealers think this is a waste of time building R. fenders for this bike when Duc Performance has them readily available.??? What I'll do is keep the ridge line @ the trailing edge of the fender but make the thing a little more blade shaped (kinda like the photoshop pic posted before). We'll begin modeling this thing up fri. and building molds next week. So...if all goes well you all could be seeing proto-types within a week or so. Be patient with us...the Navy and Yamaha US have us very busy, along with Danny Boy at BFP. Thanks for the kind loving support...now leave me alone.

Clay,
But your stuff is soooo much nicer!!! Have Dan keep us up to date though. I may be losing my job soon so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed.
Cheers,

Way off topic, but since I've been in this canoe club for a little over 19 years, I am wondering what you are doing for the Navy.. Or, is it wicked super top secret stealth stuff??

If anyone is interested, some versions of the Troll Supertwin have a unique cut down rear fender from a Supersport. It would probably look even better in CF.

"versions of the Troll Supertwin have a unique cut down rear fender from a Supersport"

I can't say I've ever heard of a Troll Supertwin, but the internet is great for these questions:

I like that hugger!

Indeed, the Troll Supertwin is killer. However the hugger pictured above is not the cut down
hugger from a Supersport that I was refering to. Follow this link: http://www.troll.nl/ and click on the pubications link. There are some articles that have been written about the Troll Supertwin (in pdf. format) that you can download. Check out the photos in the articles to see what I mean. jdale
