Suspension Identification???
OK, got something curious going on and trying to figure it out. I purchased a set of non-adjustable Showa forks off a 2001 750SSi.e. Sent the forks to my suspension guy to get worked over. When he opened them up, something wasn't right. The forks I bought have a completely sealed cartridge assembly. The vavle is crimped to the assembly and can not be disassembled to service, change the valves, or anything. Plus, they are 25mm cartridges. (but I guess that's not such a bad thing)
According to my suspension guy, his research and experience, and Race Tech parts catalogs, and a few other people I have spoke to, the non-adjustable forks off this bike are supposed to have 20mm, completely serviceable, cartridges. These forks also did not have Showa stamped anywher on, or in them.
I called a buddy that I new had a set of non-adjustable Showa forks off a bike to open his up and see what they look like...same thing, 25mm non-serviceable cartridges.
Does anyone know what's up?? What's the difference?? Or what Showa's had the 20mm serviceable cartridges/internals??
We're pretty sure they're not Marzocchi's but as far as I know, the non-adjustable Marzocchi's and the non-adjustable Showa's are identical.
Any info on any of this??? Thanks guys!
