Default Power Commander . . .

Can anyone tell me which one of these two (or another, if so) is the correct model for my 2006 Supersport 800?

I called Dyno direct and they will not say and will not support since they have not actually tested the SS800.

So far, I've narrowed it down to the 716-411 or 723-411.

Thanks.

i don't know the the model number, but it is the one for the 800 monster. but the factory map is not good for the supersport. get it custom tuned, or get a map from a member here. i have one, send me a PM if you need it.

I think any unit for a 2V FI lump will work and allow you to get a custom map created by a tuner.

Do you have a local tuner that is available and affoardable? This is the most important piece to the puzzle. Otherwise the canned maps are crap amd not woth the price of the unit. You can try to fidgit with the stuff yourself but. . .

Find your local tuner and ask him.

Good luck.

I second that, if you arent taking it to get a custom map, its simply folly to put it on, as you will have huge blind spots.... remember to find one who will do it proper in the full range at many different throttle levels.. some will only adjust it for topspeed performance!

Default Got it . . .

Thanks, all.

It turns out that it is 716-411. Actually, the 717-411 is the same exact unit with the exception that the stock map is 716 pre-mapped for the 800 and the 717 pre-mapped for the 1000. Since I am Dyno-tuning anyway and will be replacing the stock map with a custom, it's a mute point.

BTW: going with the PCIII usb, Leo Vince exhaust, and K&N air filter w/open box.

I would also get a nichols flywheel and use a 14 front sprocket instead of the 15 if its for road/city use primarily...

This may need a different thread, and as the new guy please feel free to move this.
I noticed that several of you refer to the "open air box". Are you just removing the top cover? or are you cutting the cover in some way? DOes this make a significant power difference? I did note that it made a cool change in the way the bike sounded.

I prefere to have all my stock things in original condition, so i bought one with my K&N filter.. you can find packages with both on ebay...

I gained 2 bhp with the open box, in the entire spectre... (had it rolled with and without on the same dyno)

Default MIne . . .

I bought a back-up stock cover so I could keep an original just in case. I then took a dremel to the top and copied the DP, but left a small lip in the front to help keep rain, etc, whatever little it helps keep out of my engine. I was gonig back and forth on whether or not to actually put the K&N filter on or keep the stock again because I'm afraid the K&N will let grit through and into my engine.

Then I figured, who knows how amny bikes are out there with the K&Ns? I must me kidding myself to worry about it and I'm going with the K&N. Either way, cut the top and let some ait into that baby.

I did the open box on my Monster and wasn't happy with the on-off throttle response. very choppy. I tried the PCIII but couldn't find a tuner and then she was totaled so. . .

I just put some cans on my SS and that's it. Stock box, filter, mapp, etc.

She's plenty fast for me.
