I was looking into a set of these and was wondering what the weight savings would be over the stock 5 spoke marchesinis off the 03 ss. I called carrozzeria direct and they said a weight savings of 4 lbs. in the front and 6lbs. in the rear. Sounds inflated? Does anyone know what the marchesini figures are or where to find?
Overall 10 lbs lighter is usually about right. If want big reductions in wheel weight, it will cost a lot. Forged magnesium or carbon is not cheap no matter how you look at it.

Wow, 10 lbs. is significant. I'm hoping the lighter set up will translate to a second or 2 at the track. Rick at Cogent also mentioned that the rotors are quite heavy stock and that would be a weight savings as well. Hmmmmmm, now which color to choose. Shark skinz are all red, frame is gray, thinking black would be nice. Thought about painting the sides of the skinz silver and getting gold rims like MV agusta.
On my 748 I went from 11 lbs on the front to 7.3 lbs with a carrozzeria. That's from three spoke.
Ummm, I just recieved an email from Carrozzeria and they advised they don't make anything at this time in the 5Y or 10 spoke design for my 916. What did they have for you?

I swapped rotors when I swapped wheels, went from stock to Braketech Axis (ductile iron) rotors. Weighed both sets:
Stock rear w/ hardware: 2 lbs. 1 ½ oz.
Axis rear w/ hardware: 1 lb. 13 1/8 oz.
Stock front: 4 lbs. 4 oz.
Axis front: 3 lbs. 1 ¾ oz.
Saved a couple of pounds, and went full floating as well!

these wheels are pretty light. i had a set on my M944 and my 851/926. the set on the 851 weighed in at 1lb heavier front and 1.5lb heavier at rear than the manesium March's that where on my 851 stock.

Hi Mike, is that rear wheel weight with or without the cush drive/sprocket?
The handling was greatly improved on my RC51, made it feel lighter, and more flickable.
Best bang for the buck, anything lighter is going to cost a lot more, and unless you are rich or make money racing, I wouldn't think it would be worth it.
Of course you can always throw them on your next bike if it is the same size rim, so maybe the CF could be good, but it will limit your options on what bike you can buy next.

hey Marvin, that was for a complete wheel with the same tire. the sprocket/cush differ from the stock March's. i had to use a Kaw zx6r sprocket on the Carro's and their cush so it was not the exact same set up but it was close. it was apples to apples but maybe granny smith to mcintosh.
Forged aluminum wheels will make a difference if you have the 3 spoke wheels--but not that much difference if you have the 5 spoke wheels. Some say lighter tires will make more difference. The bike will feel more nimble.
With magnesium wheels you will really notice the ease of turn in--esp at speed.
With Carbon wheels, you really start to notice the difference in aceleration and stopping.
The machining on the carrier was very tight. It was tight enough to impress Guy Martin of MBP and he's a former Air Canada QC inspector! Great bamg for short money.
I have a set on my 2005 zx6R which already has some light ass wheels, and i could very easily tell in the braking & corner speed, or is that the rolling inertia effect. Anyways damn nice quality and will be buying another set for my RC51.
