Welcome to the club!! Very common (sad) occurance on this bike. Mine happeded brand new, day one, 32 miles from the dealer. Should be replaced under warranty no hastles. Mine was. Fixed the kinked line in no time and I rode the bike until the new tank came in. Do a search, there's a few articles in here on it.

Default gas tank update

Well the tank will be covered under warrentee. Thanks to my Dealer doing all the hard work for me with DNA.

Think it was a bad vent cap, plugged or something. Now I have 2 keys, but I am not complaining, the tank is fixed and no cost to me.

Why two keys? Can't they swap the lock out, or even the whole filler cap? Seems easy enough.

Swapping the two caps is less than a five minute job, requiring only an allen wrench.

You may want to call your dealer right away, before they send your original cap back to Ducati.

The two key hassle is totally unnecessary.

Quick update.. the OP is outa country temporarily... the vent tube was not at fault. Ducati wants the entire cap and carbon canister and vent tube. So thats why the possibility of the whole new cap thing. The dealer is trying to impress upon Ducati the pain it would be to have two keys... As of Saturday 1/13/07 no new tank has arrived. Temperatures have finally turned winter like, so don't know when he will be able to pick it up when new tank is installed. As a side note, soon as I saw this (about an hour after it happened), I performed a carboncanisterectomy on my 900.
