Removal of Side Stand Ignition Lockout

Can anyone describe how to remove the side stand ignition lockout switch on a '01 900 SS so that I can let the bike idle with the side stand in the down position. I like to start it and let it warmup for a couple of minutes while I complete the process of dawning my riding apparel.
