Like the title says, I'm trying to figure out who might have made these exhaust cans. When I bought them 4 years ago from Ebay, they were supposedly made by FBF but I have since seen their's and there's little resemblence.. (sp)
I'm looking to replace the CF sleeve on the one can due to damage from a low side
I'd appreciate any thoughts on the MFG, how to take the damn things apart and possibly sources for CF sleeves ( assuming I can't identify the MFG )

I've sent an email to Borla, so I'm hoping to get some kind of confirmation. After looking through several links it appears that Brola may have stopped selling motorcycle exhausts in the US around 10/05. This might get interesting..
1996900sp - Why didn't you keep your exhaust ? Fitment or sound issues ?? Mine are highmounts and they've done well for me and sound great...
If anyone has a suggestion on where to pickup CF sleeves, I would be interested in that too...
Knowing whose they aren't is helpful too - every bit of information helps.
thanks everyone..

I got a Termi Full system, but the Borla pipes sounded great and were very tidy looking. Did yours come with the cool carbon strap? That was a neat feature.
1996900sp - Unfortunately those aren't carbon straps, just the discoloration from the straps and the heat escaping from the cracks that are conveniently located under the straps...
Hence the need to tear them apart but I have another question - How is the header/ ground clearance on the termi system ? I'm looking to do a 'custom' undertail exhaust which would resolve the header / ground clearance issue but another option is always good to have... I'll do a search but thought I'd ask.
thanks

No, I meant mine came with Hangers that were carbon straps and very cool looking.
1996900sp - First let me say that is a beautiful bike
As for the exhaust system - that's exactly what I'm looking for. No more of those curb feeler protrusions in the headers. ( I know I could lean more off the bike but it would be nice to not scrap the headers at Grattan anymore )
So what can you tell me about them - part number, dealer purchased from etc... Sorry to drag you into a long conversation but I appreciate it.... (I'll buy the first round )

Last set of Termignoni spaghetti I saw for sale was 3 or 4 years ago AMS put a set on the index for $2,500.00 They do look killer, but I doubt if the performance justifies the cost. You can modify the stock header by removing 3/8ths of an inch out of the lateral section out of the crossover for clearance, but the best way may be to jack up the back end with a longer shock so it will turn in properly. I would look into ARC Fab custom exhaust if it was my $$.
Without "Rivets" how do you pull those cans apart? I bet they are welded together. Second I'd measure the outside diameter, then see if you can get the proper sized C/F tubes.
You might be better off to save one can or parts from both and have Doug make you a set out of Ti. Or see if he can weld you up a set Ti sleeves. Give him a call and chat him up.
Latest update; emailed Borla and got a response back already!! Although they weren't 100% positive that the pipes were theirs, they said that CF sleeves are not available and that the pipes cannot be taken apart due to a special compund used to seal the muffler together...
Looking at their website, and comparing the internals of the car exhausts to my exhausts, they sure look the same. ( 4 individual perforated tubes stacked 2 x 2 and a larger tube around those )
I'm going to investigate any other suggestions offered up so don't stop now.
Ric - It appears from the photos that I've found thus far, the Giacamoto's have rivet's but I'm still looking.
Corse955 - After seeing the price on the Termi system I have to agree. I'm already planning on raising the back, have a Ohlins rear shock, but since I can't take it out to test on the track, I'm a bit hesitant to take it all the way up just to get ground clearance. I like your idea of taking some length out of the lateral portion of the header. I had intended to go with an ARC setup this winter but my lawn tractor died and I had to buy a new one so there went the money for that little project.
If anyone knows of a source for CF tubes I'd be interested. I figure I can cut the old CF and rivet the new CF tubes on.

those are Borla!!! i had them on my 96 900ss/cr, they were great, i actually had them set up as a double stack on the right side, very cool! they did indeed come with a carbon fiber strap/hanger from the factory. i just sent my cannisters off to Doug at ARC Fabrication and he's making them into a full undertail system with a spaghetti header...he does AWESOME work!!!!!!!!
1996900sp, beautiful bike: course I might be a little biased. I have the same exact year, make, model, color and passion.
Where the hell did you get the tailpiece. I've converted my bike into a track ride and the tailpiece that I have on now is shite. I need to upscale my tail.
