Default Fuel filter equivalent/substitute

I searched, but remember a thread about readily available (Autozone, Pep Boys, etc) fuel filters that will work in place of the stock in-tank filter on the carbed supersports. Any help? I think mine needs replacement...

When you find out, let me know so I can change mine in my 1995 ss/sp. I am just up the road from you and we could help each other out if you want, unless of course you are a crazy person. Just let me know.

I may pull it out tonight and take it to work w/ me tomorrow, and check out some of the filters from the cross reference during lunch. I'll let you know how it goes...

And I'm only crazy if you ask my wife; she's pretty sure of it, but stays around anyway.

(Besides, you're gonna question my sanity when your sig line says, "Yes, they call me Deezil"?!)

I know there is a napa # in LT's book, I can check tonite. If you go to Autozone, the fuel filters are on display back by the air and oil filters, and you can just look through them and visually match it up. There's no rocket science in filters, so a visual match is good enough.

When I replaced mine I just took it down to the NAPA dealer and said to match it. He did...no problem. But to answer your question...per LT's book, the NAPA part # he uses is 3032. You might want to get some new fuel hoses for inside the tank too. Mine were aged pretty bad....starting to split too.

Bought the Purolator F20011; even came w/ 2 short lengths of fuel line (the right length, no less!) AND 4 clamps. Can't beat that! I'll be installing it tonight. Glock, I'll let you know how it goes...

Yep, NAPA 3032 but don't use the hoses that come with the filter. Get (only good hose) SAE J30R9. High pressure fuel injection hose and resistant to all of the gasoline additives, even ethanol I think! My local NAPA has the hose too.

Outstanding. I'll have to check that out, but what the fuel hoses, shoudln't they be high presure lines? I am just assuming the ones that came with the filter are not high pressure lines. Let me know.

Done. Fuel line is fuel line (flame on). The Purolator came w/ 2 short sections of line and 4 clamps, the pinch and release type. Used 3 of the clamps over the flanged ends, used the screw type clamp for the non-flanged end on the pump itself. The filter is a bit longer than the stock unit, so I had to cut down the lines a bit, but that's it.

As far as "high pressure", I don't think we're talking 500 psi here. It'll work just fine.

Started the bike up and the slight hesitancy to rev and the reluctance to start are gone. These air-cooled Ducs are just like a Chevy 350; there's a million ways to keep them running well. Been thinking about selling mine to help finance an S4R this Spring, but man... it's a big advantage to be able to work on my bike myself.

Anyway, Mission accomplished!
