Default Ducati Desmo Due Race Series - UK

Just thought you may be interested in the Ducati Desmo Due race series over here in the UK (and one round in Holland at Assen at the Ducati Club Races – mental).

Check out the Ducati Sporting Club UK website for info and pictures. It’s a great way to start racing; and what better bike than on old 583’s (Class B) and 620’s (Class A).

The key seams to be to do as little braking as possible and hold that corner speed! Also we use Pirelli Diablo’s – not corsa’s and they stick rather well, even in the wet as most of us found out at Brands…

There are some interesting modifications too, fairings, exhausts etc. You would not believe how good a monster looks with an Orange 916 race fairing!!!

Ps anyone got a spare fuel tank? I trashed mine at CadwellPark

Not that I can go over and watch, but I would like to see the virtual action....bike pics and all. Can you post a link for the site?

Thanks.

Oh I think some of us might. I wish we had something like that here.

There are some reports and pictures at the link below. It's really good fun you know - maybe if you speak to a race organiser you might be able to work something out, we have no problems filling grids.

Enjoy.

Considering how many desmodue's race up at LRRS it seems like a viable series over here also. I'm in if it could happen. In fact if there is anything I could do to start one lets do it!

I thought I'd make my first post here on Speedzilla, helping ressurect this old thread!

Just wanted to say that last weekend I particpated in my first ever race meeting. This was in the Ducati Desmodue series here in the UK.

My results weren't all that good really, and I have a lot of improvements to make. But I did finish both races, I wasn't last and I had a whole lot of fun.

I've written a bit of a review of the day here - http://kapitalmoto.co.uk/node/99

If you're interested in how much this has cost me so far, I've also made my accounts spreadsheet available here - http://kapitalmoto.co.uk/node/101 T

There's actually some further discussion around these expenses on the UK's Ducati Sporting Club forum - http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/sh...ad.php?t=33337

And, if you're interested in seeing what the tracks we race on are like, here's an onboard video taken at a track day two weeks ago - http://kapitalmoto.co.uk/node/95

Sorry for all the cross posts, but I thought this thread could do with a bit of a personal update!

Hey Brewmaster,

What do you have for a set up on you 750ss? I was debating the whole open air box and power commander with custom map mod. Not sure if its worth the suttle increase in power. Chris at BCM before the change in ownership said not to bother. My wrist would probably have more influence on lap times if I ever find my cojones in turns 1 and 6.

I had Bruce at BCM remap my ecm. I bought the bike with Arrow slip on's and then I opened up the air box (hole sawed it out). Therefore it needed to be remaped anyway. I personally don't think the hp gain would amount to much if you are running stock pipes, Chris is right (she doesn't BS anyone). I don't know what your lap times are, but time on the track is usually $$ better spent than mods until you are reaching the limits of the bike. And yes 1 & 6 ARE where the time is made up at Loudon. That is where I need work too (i.e. bigger cojones). Stop by the North Garage #23 next race weekend, say hi and I'll show ya the air box mod if you want to see how I did it. Cheers, Brewmaster

Brewmaster - are you going to the test and tune on the 27th? Unfortunately, I'm going to miss the race weekend but make the open practice on Thursday. I have the sil moto hi-mounts with itg air filter but my air box and ecu are still stock. It was idling low so I adjusted the idle to 1100 as per suggestion that it would help carry a little more speed when I'm off the throttle.

I will not be able to do thursday. I am going to try and do the friday practice though. It can get crazy out there on friday practices so it will depend on weather / # of riders.

Cheers
