Tire pricing?????
I am in Seattle and checked 3 dealers for 120/70-17 and 170/60-17 tires for my 99 900SSei.
Pricing for Pilot Power's ran $332 installed with rims OFF the bike.
This was the cheapest and nobody had other tire choices or recommendations.
Your guys opinions

Yea, that's going to be tough to beat!! There's great deals out there but other factors to consider...Our very own MotoWheels has pilot powers any size combo (I believe) for $209. That's the absolute best I have personally seen. BUT, for you, you have to factor in shipping and then factor in most places charge more if you bring in outside tires to get mounted. I know Cycle Gear charges in this manner. Find out what some of your local places charge if you bring your own, then find out how much MotoWheels charges for shipping and take it from there. You may or may not be able to beat that. Good luck.

I was recently at a semi-local dealer (about 45 min drive) with a riding buddy and they gave us a price of $350. Ride up, they pull the wheels, install tires and off you go. They had a nice selection in stock, as well.

i bought my rear dunlop qualifier for about $25 less than the pilot powers at the local retail shop and had it installed at the local race shop with the wheel off for $15. happy with both. i'm running the front pilot right now, and that seems to working fine also.

I live in Tacoma and I got a set of Pilot Powers in sizes 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 @ Cycle Gear for $260 installed. I get a 10% discount on tires because I have a Cycle Gear Visa card but even given the discount that's a better deal then you quoted. I think they also have a store in Auburn.

My bad....I checked my receipt and the cost for the tires with installation was $283.80 not $260 as I previously quoted.

Just bought Pilot Powers for my '92 900SS, 120/70 front and 170/60 rear. Chaparral substituted the 170 rear on one of their web tire packages. paid $215 incl shipping. Local speed shop charges $15 a wheel so total spent was $245.
The dealers are very overpriced on rubber, use a local shop for mount and balance.

If you don't have an independent shop near you, I would suggest looking into purcahasing the tools that you need to perform a mount and balance yourself. A one time investment, and it will pay for itself in notime. Get a buddy or two to chip in. STAY AWAY from MOST dealers as they are not your friend, they think that just because they hang a sign outside they have a right to steal legally. Their objective is to separate you from as much of your money as possible. Caveat Emptor!

Local Honda Dealer installed them for $332, did a great job, quick turn around, close to home.
Bought a battery there as well for $44. Not a Yuasa, but it seems to do the job, (I keep it on a charger during downtime).

yeah, order online, pull your wheels and take them to a competent shop for install/balance.
this weekend my local dealer (a joke of a place) wanted to take me for $200 to put a pilot power (rear only) on a loose wheel.
although it might take a few days to get, found decent prices here:

tire prices
A reminder,
Dennis Kirk will beat anyones best deal by $1.00. There regular prices are outrageous in my mind! they must hope you don't look anywhere else? CompetitionAccessories.com has what look to be good prices although I don't think shipping is included in those prices.
The one local shop where I take my wheels and tires (off the bike) charges $10.00 per wheel to mount and balance, plus wheel weights for a total of about $21.00 for both front & rear. This is regardless of you bringing your own tires or buying them from him.
The other place is $15.00 per tire plus weights for about $35 total for both front & rear.
Last but not least, the local Ducati dealer charges $75.00 for the same service. Well almost, They charge an extra $20.00 per tire if you bring your own tires. I am not against supporting the local dealer but I am against being raped. Ouch!
Call it support your dealer/dealers or lose them. I think any good buisness minded person or the majority will shop the best deal, especially in a price differential as my comparison.
