Default 800 SS Workshop Manual

Anyone ever obtained one? They seem to be hard to find...

Default I know...

Dealer says for $135 + they'll order one for me. Haven't pulled the trigger on that one just yet.

i bought one. don't remember the exact price, but it was close to three figures. the part the killed me was the size and ring holes are whack, so you have to dump another $25 for the binder. it is really nice though, has actual pictures showing things pretty well. worth it in the long run, for sure if you are doing your own work..

What about the "Ducati Desmodue/Desmotre Maintenance and Modification Guide - 2nd Ed" by LT Synder sold by from DesmoTimes.com? Reasonable price but I have no basis for comparison between the official workshop manual or this guide.

Anyone out there can compare?

LT's books are some of the best. But the workshop manual and LT's manual are different. LT's manual covers the usual maintainence items like valve maintainence, oil changes, eletrical issues etc. His manual will not explain how to disassemble/reassemble a complete engine like the workshop manual will. LT also has insightful tips and tricks in his books pulled from his many years of ducati work. LT will usually have a chapter or two on tools and aftermarket parts as well. I use LT's manual much more than the factory workshop one. Should be fine with just LT's manual.

I have both, bought LT's first and ran with it for awhile, then added the shop manual for more in depth info. You can do all your normal maintenance with LT's, plus it has the benefit of real experience. And it comes signed!

Thanks for the response guys. The LT should be perfect for me then. Basic maintenance is all I need for now since the bike has less than 3k miles. Plus, I live in a condo with a basement garage so I won't be able to tear the engine apart or do hard core mechanics since it's not allowed. When I have my own garage it's time to get the workshop manual then.
