Default 900 SS carby questions (fuel pmp relay)

My wifes 900 ss quit. the fuel pump is not running. I don't have a book on the older 900 (this one is a 98) and was hoping someone could tell me where the F.P. relay is located? Is there any common issues with these bikes relitive to my problem? I have 30K on mt 99 and have never had a problem. The 98 has 10K on it. Thanks!

Check this page out. They might have the manual you need.

My fuel pump quit on me around 15k on my '95. Turned out it wasn't the relay, nor the pump itself. One of the wires had broken after being pinched between the tank and the frame when lowering the tank. Dumb on my part. Might be something you want to check.

Thanks guys! Marcus, your offer to send me the manual is so cool! I really appreciate it. All I did so far was to open the tank, clean it out and replace the filter. The pump wires were clipped under the pump in the tank but I saw no damage to the wires. After I did that stuff the bike just would not stay running (it had died while my wife was coming back from the gym the other day and that is why I did the filter) I can’t hear the pump running and other than visually inspecting the fuse, I haven’t done a thing. I will get out the DVM and check a few things. At least I know where the pump is!

Hi,

Just a thought, did you put the fuel filter back the correct way around??? there is a small arrow on one end, this should not be on the end that is nearest the bottom of the tank

I saw the arrow, I wanted to put it in that way but I was replacing lines and could have made a mistake. Is there a oneway valve in the filter? Will the pump stop once it has pressure?

It's fixed. One of the pins in the weatherhead connector that plugs into the tank had backed out. I really need to replace the connector because the pin won't "stick" anymore. Anyhow, she runs!

Thanks for all the help! The online manual and the schematic Desmo93 sent me saved the day!
